January 2019 GoodieBox

Updated on December 18th, 2021

December was so busy with the holidays that I did not have the opportunity to share my GoodieBox and GoodieBox Crush, but now I wanted to share what I received in the GoodieBox from January.

The theme for January’s box was Keep it Fresh and it contained products to help refresh your skin during the winter. GoodieBox is a Danish beauty subscription box, so the boxes can only be shipped to Denmark, Greenland, and the Faroe Islands. There is a GoodieBox subscription for the Netherlands, but the monthly boxes are different. Each box costs 169 kr / $26 a month and contains 5-7 items worth over 550 kr / $84. In this box I received 5 items, and 3 were full-sized.

Ivy Aïa Cleansing Mousse with Vitamin B3 (Full Size): Ivy Aïa is a Danish brand that specializes in allergy-friendly skin care products, and this cleansing mousse provides you with a fresh start to the day. The mousse is a gentle cleanser that does not dry out the skin and instead cleans and moisturizes it. The added vitamin B3 acts as an anti-inflammatory and soothes redness and acne. I have never tried any products from Ivy Aïa and since I have acne-prone skin, this cleansing mousse sounds perfect for me. Also, Ivy Aïa is vegan and cruelty-free.

50 kr / $7.50

Rodial Vit C Brightening Mask: Rodial is a UK brand, and the mask adds brightness to everyday life. The mask brightens the skin, evens the skin tone, and reduces the appearance of wrinkles and age spots. The mask is used for 15-20 minutes and then rinsed off to reveal glowing skin. I have received the Rodial Dragon’s Blood Sculpting Gel in my October 2018 GoodieBox, the Rodial Dragon’s Blood XXL Lip Plumper in my March 2018 GoodieBox and the Rodial Dragon’s Blood Eye Mask in my July 2017 GoodieBox. It is nice being able to try a face mask that is not from the dragon’s blood line, but brightening is not something I look for in a mask since I have oily acne-prone skin. However, Rodial does not test on animals.

645 kr / $98 for 50 ml

Youth Lab CC Complete Cream SPF 30: Youth Lab is a Greek brand, and the CC cream is one of the bestsellers on the GoodieBox shop. The CC provides moisture and radiance, covers imperfections, and protects against UV rays. The CC can be used with the GoodieBox Beauty Blender and can be worn alone or under makeup. I have not tried any products from Youth Lab, but I normally do not use CC creams. However, the CC cream would be great to use during the Spring and Summer when I need the extra SPF. Also, Youth Lab is cruelty-free.

209 kr / $32 for 50 ml

GoodieBox Beauty Blender (Full Size): GoodieBox created their own makeup sponge that can be used with liquid and cream makeup. When I wear liquid makeup, I use the Real Techniques Miracle Complexion Sponge since it is affordable and has the flat edge for under eye makeup. Since the GoodieBox Beauty Blender has the same shape as the original Beautyblender it will be interesting to see how it compares to both the Real Techniques sponge and the Beautyblender.

119 kr / $18

Laritzy Cosmetics Dew Pot in Fine (Full Size): Laritzy is a Canadian brand, and the dew pot can bring in extra light to the dark winter days. Fine is a pearl pink shade with a shimmer finish, and the dew pot can be used as highlighter, blush or eyeshadow. The dew pot is also a cream product that can be applied with your fingers or a makeup brush. I previously received the Laritzy NUE Palette in my February 2018 GoodieBox and the Laritzy Lip Stix in Scarlet in my December 2017 GoodieBox. The products are good quality, but a bit expensive. However, I love the Fine shade, and Laritzy is cruelty-free.

130 kr / $20Swatch of the Laritzy Cosmetics Dew Pot in Fine

As a bonus for the Keep It Fresh theme, GoodieBox included a recipe for a DIY face mask to make your skin glow. The ingredients include:

  • 1/2 banana
  • 1 tablespoon of honey
  • 1 tablespoon of freshly squeezed orange juice

To make the mask, you mash the banana in a bowl and add the honey and orange juice and mix together. You then wear the mask for 15 minutes and rinse with lukewarm water.

Overall, this was a good box, and I am excited to try out the cleansing mousse, the beauty blender, and the DIY mask. The box also had a value of 640 kr / $97.

Have you tried any of these brands or products? What subscription boxes do you receive?

The only brand I’ve tried is Laritzy. I totally wish all these other brands were available to us, too!
