I recently tried a French vegetarian meal from the 1930s, which led me to want to try more old-fashioned recipes. Also, I have been a big fan of the Nancy Drew PC games and have read some of the original books. I thought it would be great to try some recipes from the 1970s version of The Nancy Drew Cookbook.

This summer, I went to an art museum that had a “Tak for mad” (thanks for the food) exhibit with food-themed artwork and tableware. The exhibit also had a vegetarian cookbook from 1901. Seeing the cookbook led me to research other old vegetarian cookbooks, and I came across the French cookbook La table du végétarien. I purchased the 8th edition and decided to cook a meal from the cookbook.
