Updated on October 3rd, 2023
We are in the last week of 2021 and it is unreal how fast this year has flown by. However, like last year, I wanted to take a look back on my posts that have been the most popular and had the most views in 2021.
My Most Popular Posts in 2021
#10 Animal Crossing: New Horizons x ColourPop Makeup Look: I published my makeup look using the ColourPop ACNH collection in May 2021. I am surprised that my makeup look did well especially since the collection review I published after this post did not have as many views.
#9 6 Long Distance Relationship Truths: I published this post in August 2020 based on my experience of being in a long-distance relationship for a year. This post was sponsored by a dating site, but I think my experience is useful for others and that is why it ranked #9 this year.
#8 Vegan Danish Dinner Frikadeller Recipe: I published this recipe in 2019 and honestly I am surprised that this post was one of my best posts last year and it actually has the same ranking this year. In this post, I share how to make vegan frikadeller, which are Danish pan-fried meatballs.
#7 How To Spot Counterfeit Makeup: I published this post during the first lockdown in 2020, and last year it ranked #5 but this year it moved down to #7. In this post, I shared the dangers of counterfeit makeup and how to avoid buying counterfeit makeup online.
#6 Checking Makeup Expiration Dates: I wrote this post in 2018, and this post has the same ranking as last year. In this post, I check the manufacturing date of more than 10 makeup products and compared the manufacturing date to the date I purchased or received them.
#5 My 10 Step Korean Skin Care Routine for Oily Skin: Near the beginning of 2020, I tried the Korean skincare routine and used products suitable for oily, acne-prone skin. This post was my #4 best last year, but it moved down to #5 for this year.
#4 Random Number Generator Chooses My Makeup: I published this makeup look in May 2020 where I used a random number generator to choose the makeup products I would use. This post was my #3 best post last year, and this year it moved down to #4.
#3 My Favorite Sims 4 Challenges: After the success of my other The Sims 4 post, I decided to publish this one in March 2021, and it is great it did well too. In this post, I wrote about my favorite CAS (Create-A-Sim), build, and gameplay challenges to watch and play in The Sims 4.
#2 My Favorite Sims 4 Mods + Custom Content: I published this post in August 2020, and it was my #1 post for views, but this year it moved down to #2. In this post, I shared my favorite mods and custom content for The Sims 4.
#1 Ranking Every Nancy Drew PC Game: I also published this post in August 2020 where I replayed every HER Interactive Nancy Drew PC game and ranked them. Last year, this post was my #2 most popular post, but for 2021 it has taken over as #1.
My Thoughts on My Most Popular Posts
Out of my 10 most popular posts, 2 were published in 2021, 6 were published in 2020, 1 in 2019, and the last 1 in 2018. Also, 5 were related to makeup including 2 makeup looks, 3 were about video games with 2 on The Sims 4, and the remaining 2 was a vegan recipe and a long-distance relationship post. I am surprised that most of my popular posts were ones from last year, but I am glad that my older posts are still doing well. It also seems like my makeup posts are popular especially when they are helpful guides or makeup looks, but it would be good to continue having a mix of lifestyle posts.
In comparison to 2020, I published 44 posts in 2021, which is a bit less than the 50 posts I published last year. 2020 was my best year for views, and this year I surpassed those views. I definitely do not need to publish 2-3 posts a week and 1 post a week is fine for me that way I can focus on the quality.
As far as views, most of my views came from search engines like Google, which was the same as last year. After search engines, my views came from the WordPress Reader, Twitter, Pinterest, and Facebook. It is good to know that Twitter is still a good source of views. Also, my views from Pinterest have gone up from 2020 and they were almost equivalent to my views from Twitter. For several months my views from Pinterest have been higher than Twitter so I definitely need to keep up with using Pinterest. I would also like to mention Instagram. I barely got any views from Instagram and I do not recommend using Instagram to try and get blog views as there are other social media platforms like Pinterest and Twitter that are more beneficial.
It is awesome to see what your popular posts were. I haven’t thought about looking into my popular posts, but it might be a great idea, to maybe take the content in that niche/direction. Thank you for sharing. I hope the start of 2022 has been good to you!

It’s definitely helpful doing & exactly! If you have certain topics that are popular, you can maybe write more on those topics
Thanks for sharing! As a newbie blogger, it is really interesting to read these reviews and insights into what has worked out and what was unexpected.
Thank you! It’s helpful for me too because I know what posts people are actually reading & it helps me plan new posts too!
This was interesting. Your top 3 I have no idea of since I’m not into gaming. And also why they’re ranked because of the game topic. Including Sims, I don’t know what that is. Recipes rank good glad to see a special cuisine there. 7 and 6 intrigued me I never thought if these topics and are great. Will check them out someday. I believe we spend more time on Twitter than what it gives us, was my last.month finding. Which Iis why I’m doing less of it now. Enjoyed it. Xx

Gaming is a hobby of mine so I’m surprised but also glad that they ranked well. The Sims is a simulation game where you basically control the life of your sim character & you can build them a house, get a job, get married, have kids, etc.
Thank you! I was really surprised when I checked the manufactoring dates because some of the makeup I bought/received was sitting on a shelf for 2 years before I got it. Also counterfeit makeup is a huge problem these days because you can easily go online & look for makeup & think you’re getting a good deal, but in reality it’s counterfeit & the ingredients are so dangerous for your skin!
I really like this post idea! Definitely has led to me discovering some of your posts that I haven’t seen before and some new topics from you! Hope you have an awesome new year!
Thanks & that’s great you’re able to check out some new posts from me!
I hope you’re having a great start to the new year!
Love this round up and look back! It’s such a great idea. Will definitely check them out!
Thank you! & I definitely find it helpful to look back & compare to last year too.
what a neat post idea! I’ll have to do the same with my posts. In the meantime, I’ll give these of yours a read – or more so ones I haven’t yet read,
Thanks! It’s definitely helpful to do!
I need to look at which posts have been my most popular in 2021, it’ll be interesting to see what they are! x

Yes it’s definitely insightful to see which posts were the post popular & it can also help you plan posts for the new year
I haven’t actually looked at what my popular posts were yet but I might do a little something like this on Instagram – it’s always interesting to see which ones do well!
Exactly & I definitely recommend seeing what posts do well because it can help plan future posts too.
It’s cool to see what was popular this year, and the comparison to 2020 because of how crazy the past couple of years have been. I’m also glad to see that you blog about several different topics (I’m new so I like to check out how others follow a niche or not). Thank you for sharing!
I agree & it’s beneficial to see which posts of mine were popular too.
Yes I started as a beauty blog, but it got boring very quick so I expanded to lifestyle & now I pretty much blog about whatever I want. I definitely don’t think it’s necessary to stick to a single niche & if you do, you may run out of things to write about or lose motivation to blog because you don’t enjoy it anymore.
I need to check our analytics, I am curious! I am quite happy to read how I have actually checked out most of these, and possibly my favourite has to be the Animal Crossing makeup one!
You definitely should do that! It’s helpful seeing which posts have the most views.
That’s great to hear you loved my Animal Crossing makeup post!
This is so interesting! I haven’t looked through to see which posts of mine were most popular this year but now I’d really like to know!
It’s definitely beneficial to do & it can help you plan your future posts!
I love this idea of sharing you 10 best post for the prev year…. best of luck for 2022…. keep it up…
Thank you!
