NYX Shine Killer Review

Updated on March 27th, 2023

I have been looking for a new primer, so I purchased the NYX Shine Killer Mattifying Primer from Matas during Black Friday.

The NYX Shine Killer Mattifying Primer

I have oily skin, and my forehead, nose, cheeks, and chin can especially get oily during the day. The Shine Killer can be used as a primer, over makeup, or alone to eliminate the look of oil and shine. I only used this as a primer because I do not wear primers by themselves or on top of makeup.

The Shine Killer is a clear silicone primer that has a smooth texture similar to the NYX Studio Perfect Primer. I only need a little amount of primer to cover my face. This primer does make my face feel really oily at first, but once it has dried, my face looks matte. Like with the Studio Perfect Primer, my makeup applies smoothly and blends easily.

If I do not use a setting spray, my makeup will last a few hours longer than if I did not use a primer, and my makeup will stay matte and my face will remain oil-free for most of the day for about 5 hours. I do recommend using a setting spray with the NYX primer because my makeup will last all day or night and my face stays oil-free longer. This primer is somewhat small, but it is definitely more affordable compared to higher-end primers.

Overall, I would recommend trying the NYX Shine Killer if you have oily or combination/oily skin because this primer does help my face remain oil-free for most of the day.

I tried the Angel primer and really wasn’t impressed as it didn’t help my oily skin at all, but i may well give this a try after reading your post X

I was wondering if the angel primer was any good because I’ve seen a lot of videos of people who use it, so it’s good to know that it’s not good with oily skin!

I brought it because of seeing so many good reviews and videos about it. But i was really disappointed, if anything it actually made my face feel quite greasy!

This looks pretty good. I’m always battling the shine on my forehead so I’ve been looking for a good primer to help but didn’t want to splurge!
