Testing Products from Social Media Ads

Updated on April 29th, 2026

When you watch a YouTube video or scroll on social media, you are bound to come across ads. Usually, I just scroll past the ads, but for this post, I actually wanted to test out the products from the ads to see if they are any good. I tested products I saw in ads on Instagram, Facebook, TikTok, and YouTube including clothing, beauty, food, drinks, and games to determine if they were worth the money or time.

This post contains affiliate links, which means I may earn a commission if you make a purchase through my links, but there is no extra cost to you.

Clothing

Snag Tights

I regularly see ads on Instagram and Facebook for Snag Tights, and I actually purchased from them a couple of years ago. I was looking for anti-chaffing shorts to wear during the summer. When I am wearing thin shorts, rompers, or dresses, my thighs rub together and over time, it can be painful. I was looking for webshops online that were located in the EU so I did not have to pay import fees from the UK or US, and I came across Snag Tights.

Snag Tights is manufactured in Italy, and they are sustainable. Their production is carbon neutral, and they use plastic-free packaging, vegan dyes, recycled water, and solar power. They also pay their workers living wages and have a recycling program. Furthermore, they donate tights to Hey Girls.

One thing I love about Snag Tights is that they are size-inclusive and have sizes from 32-64. Their size guide is helpful as it takes your height into account as well. I placed my order for two of their tights and two of their Chub Rub Shorts. I ordered the 50 Denier Tights – Black for €10,99 / $12, the 120 Denier Tights – Black for €11,99 / $13, and the Stay Cool Chub Rub Shorts for €11,99 / $13 each. Snag Tights does not have coupons, but if you buy 5 pairs of tights or shorts, you can save 10% as it costs them less to pack and ship. Since I ordered the tights and shorts some time ago, I do not remember how long it took for my order to be delivered, but they did arrive!

First off the tights. The 50 Denier Tights are good for the warmer months as they are thin. On the other hand, the 120 Denier Tights are perfect for colder months, and they keep my legs warm when I am wearing dresses. Both of the tights fit well and are comfortable to wear. Also, after a couple of years of regular wear, there is only a small tear in the foot of the 50 Denier Tights, which is not noticeable when wearing shoes. The tights have held up well over time.

Now for the Chub Rub Shorts! The shorts cover the whole thigh, and they do prevent chafing. I can wear the Chub Rub Shorts with shorts, rompers, and dresses and not have to worry about my thighs becoming painful after walking around the whole day. Also, the shorts fit well and are thin enough that they are comfortable to wear during the summer. Furthermore, after regularly wearing the shorts throughout the whole year, they have held up well and there are no signs of tearing.

Would I recommend Snag Tights?

Yes, I would. After several years, only the 50 Denier Tights have a small rip by foot, but the 120 Denier Tights and Chub Rub Shorts are still in good condition. The tights and shorts are also true to size. They are worth it if you are looking for a new pair of tights or anti-chaffing shorts. Plus, Snag Tights is ethical and environmentally friendly!

HeyShape

I have seen numerous ads on TikTok and Instagram for HeyShape, which mainly sells shapewear. In the ads, individuals will try on a pair of clothing that does not fit or is tight. Then they will put on the HeyShape bodysuit followed by the clothing they tried on earlier, and it now fits. I was curious to see if the bodysuits actually worked or if the results were just exaggerated for the ads.

At the time I placed my order on May 2nd, HeyShape had a buy 1 get 1 free sale. I ordered one black and one white bodysuit, which came to a total of 291 kr / $42 with free shipping. My order was supposed to be delivered on May 16th by DAO, but my package was never delivered.

I reached out to DAO first on May 16th and filled out the form that my package was missing. I also called them twice for updates. They said they had 10 business days to find my package, but they never did find the package.

Then I reached out to HeyShape customer support on Monday, May 27th. Despite stating on their website that the average answer time is 1-2 business days, I did not receive a response until Friday, May 31st. The representative completely ignored my email and said my package was delivered. She also said that I would need to reach out to my local post office if it was not. In my initial email to HeyShape, I already stated that I reached out to DAO, filled out the form, and called them twice for updates, and my package is missing. I replied on May 31st that my package was lost, but I never received a reply back.

The response I received from HeyShape that states my order was delivered, and they suggest I contact my local post office if it was not delviered.
The first email I received from HeyShape on May 31st after telling them that my package was missing and I already reached out to DAO. I removed my tracking information after the fact for privacy.

On June 4th I sent a new email to HeyShape customer support that my package is lost and I want a refund. I included reaching out to DAO and a screenshot of their latest email that I received that said to reach out to the webshop (HeyShape). I also included a screenshot of the unhelpful response from the HeyShape representative. Then at the end, I reiterated that I wanted a refund because my package was lost. On June 8th, I received a response from HeyShape, and I finally received a refund!

I thought that was the end of the HeyShape saga, but on June 30th I received an odd email. The email was a response to my June 4th email stating they can offer a partial refund of 20% and I keep the product or do a size exchange if it has been 14 days since my order was delivered. The email made no sense because I received a full refund almost a month earlier, so I just ignored it.

On July 1st, I received another email from HeyShape stating that I was fully refunded and they wanted me to change my Trustpilot review from 1 star or remove it. I explained to them that I was not doing that because I had a horrible experience with their customer service. Also, I already added an update to the review that I was fully refunded. With all the stress I experienced with HeyShape, I hope I never hear from them or see their ads again!

The email I received on July 1st from HeyShape asking me to update or remove my Trustpilot review because they refunded my purchase.

Would I recommend HeyShape?

No! HeyShape does not have a phone number, so if you have a problem such as a package being lost in the mail, receiving the wrong order, or if you accidentally ordered the wrong size, you have to send them an email and just wait. HeyShape is also slow at replying to emails, and they ignore your concerns. If you have to send a follow-up email, good luck with getting a second reply! I do NOT recommend shopping from HeyShape based on my experience.

Sellpy

I have seen ads for Sellpy on TikTok, and they are a platform where you can buy secondhand clothes, shoes, and accessories. Sellpy has an app, but you can also browse their website, which I found easier to do. The app is slow to load especially when you are selecting sizes, colors, or the price range.

Sellpy works by sellers sending a bag of items to their warehouse. Sellpy takes the photos and lists the items. Once an item is sold, Sellpy ships it. The seller then gets either credits or money or they can donate their profits. You do not have to deal with individual sellers when buying from Sellpy, which I can appreciate. I have not always had the best experiences with sellers on Depop as I have had sellers not ship the item or reply to messages. Sellpy on the other hand handles the whole process for the sellers.

Prices on Sellpy start from 25 kr / $3.50. They have all different brands including fast fashion brands like Shein and H&M. I am mixed about seeing Shein on Sellpy because it is good they are trying to sell the clothes instead of tossing them, but Shein’s clothing is generally not good quality. However, for 25 kr, it is not a big investment if you do buy and regularly wear the clothing from a fast fashion brand. Also, Sellpy has luxury brands like Chanel, Louis Vuitton, and Gucci at better prices than if you bought the pieces new.

I have been wanting a new maxi dress, and I found a plain black one for 25 kr with free shipping. I ordered on May 4th and received the package on May 8th, which was before their expected delivery time of May 10-13th. The outer packaging was a paper mailer, but the dress itself came in a plastic bag. It would be great if the individual items were not wrapped in plastic because people buying secondhand usually want to reduce their plastic waste.

The dress itself is comfortable. However, I thought the waistband would be on the waist, but it is on the hips. From the photos, it looked like the waistband would be higher. Since the photos of clothes on Sellpy are on a plain white background, it can be hard to see the details. Also, the dress smelled a lot like perfume as if the person who wore it did not wash it before sending it to Sellpy. According to Sellpy guidelines, they do not wash, steam, or iron the clothes they receive. Obviously, I am going to wash the dress before wearing it, but I feel like clothes should be washed before people receive them and not smell strongly of someone’s perfume.

Would I recommend shopping on Sellpy?

Sellpy does a good variety of secondhand clothing at affordable prices. You will most likely find something you are looking for, so I would recommend them. However, note that Sellpy does not wash the clothes so you could potentially receive clothing that is dirty or smells strongly like perfume.

Oodie

I regularly see ads for Oodie, and I have been wanting one of their blanket hoodies because they look so warm and cozy. However, the price has deterred me from purchasing one until now. The regular price for an Oodie is €69, which is out of my budget. However, I saw an ad on Instagram for their upcoming €1 sale of their All Black Oodie on November 5th. I created an account on Oodie beforehand and set my alarm for 8 AM. I was on the website a few minutes before watching the countdown to the sale. As soon as the countdown reached 0, I refreshed the page, quickly added the All Black Oodie to my cart, and checked out. The checkout process was quick and easy since I already had an account with my address updated, and I managed to snag one of the €1 Oodies!

Shipping was €11,99, so the total came out to €12,99, which is a fantastic price. I was expecting to have to wait a while for the Oodie to ship. However, the Oodie already shipped on November 6th and I received it the next day on the 7th! 2 days for shipping is amazing! As far as the packaging, the Oodie came in a plastic mailer and then a vacuum-sealed plastic bag. I understand the want for the blanket hoodie to be vacuumed sealed because it is quite large when unfolded, but I do hope they look into more environmentally friendly packaging.

As far as the Oodie itself, it is all black where both the outside and inside are solid black. Also, Oodies are one size, and I normally wear an XL, and the Oodie is quite roomy on me. They do state on their website that one size fits most based on a 6XL hoodie. The Oodie is so soft and warm to wear, and it also has a large pocket on the front that you can store your phone and other items in. I am so happy that I finally own an Oodie!

Would I recommend shopping on Oodie?

Yes, I would. The Oodie is good quality, and it is nice and cozy to wear. Also, one size fits most, and shipping is quick! If you can get a €1 Oodie before their next Black Friday sale, I would highly recommend doing so!

Beauty

Wild

I have seen ads on Instagram and Facebook for Wild, which is a sustainable, natural deodorant brand. Wild sells refillable deodorant cases with plastic-free bamboo refills. Their deodorants are vegan and available in sensitive formulas. Wild also has refillable body wash, but I opted for the deodorant.

I actually became a brand ambassador for Wild last year, and they were supposed to send me a deodorant to try, but I never received it because there was an issue with shipping. Fast forward to this year, I decided to make a one-time purchase of a case and 3 refills. I chose the aqua case with the Lemon Basil & Blood Orange deodorant, and two of their seasonal scents Elderflower & Watermelon Spritz and Pink Grapefruit & Lime. I enjoy fruity scents, and I thought these would make a nice variety to try. The case and refills were €28 with €4.99 shipping for a total of €32.99 / $35.50. If I wanted to buy more refills in the future, they would be €7 /$7.50 each. I placed my order on May 2nd, and the estimated delivery was May 15th.

My order was delivered on May 14th, and I was excited to try Wild. The case is easy to load with the refill, and you just twist the bottom of the case to push up the refill and use it. I apply 2-3 swipes of the deodorant to each armpit, and the deodorant does have good lasting power. I will stay fresh during the day, but if I am going out later that evening, I do apply a little more.

As far as the 3 scents I ordered, the Lemon Basil & Blood Orange does have a strong herb scent, and it is my least favorite out of the 3, but I would still use it. The Elderflower & Watermelon Spritz has a nice floral scent with a fruity hint, and it is my second favorite. My favorite out of the 3 is the Pink Grapefruit & Lime because it has such a great fruity scent. Regarding how long each refill lasts, I have been using the Elderflower & Watermelon Spritz since I received my order on May 14th, and it lasted around 6 weeks with daily use.

Would I recommend Wild?

Yes! I am all for using sustainable products, and Wild’s refillable deodorants are great. The scents are nice, and the deodorant has good lasting power throughout the day. Also, each refill lasts around 6 weeks for me, so spending €7 /$7.50 for 6 weeks of deodorant is not that bad.

Garnier Micellar Cleansing Jelly Water with Charcoal

My daughter watches Danish YouTubers Jas & Mika, and they regularly do challenges like spending 24 hours in IKEA or going through the Burger King drive-thru 100 times. Jas and Mika made an ad for Garnier, and my daughter, my partner, and I have all seen the ads on our YouTube channels. In the ad, Jas and Mika use several products from Garnier, but I was most curious to try the Micellar Cleansing Jelly Water with Charcoal.

The Garnier Micellar Cleansing Jelly Water with Charcoal is ideal for those with acne-prone. oily, dry, or sensitive skin. I found the Micellar Cleansing Jelly Water for 42 kr / $6 at Normal, and I have seen it at Matas for 50 kr / $7. The Micellar Cleansing Jelly Water is used by applying the product to a cotton or reusable pad and then wiping it across the face. The product can be used daily on the face, lips, and eyes to cleanse and remove makeup. Also, the packaging is made from 100% recycled plastic.

I have used micellar water in the past to remove makeup, and the Micellar Cleansing Jelly Water is just like micellar water, but thicker. The Micellar Cleansing Jelly Water does remove all makeup including eye makeup, and it does make my face feel clean.

The Micellar Cleansing Jelly Water also claims to help reduce blackheads and blemishes after 1 week of regular use. After using the Micellar Cleansing Jelly Water for several weeks as part of my evening routine, I do not think it has helped with blemishes. I have oily, acne-prone skin, and I would still get the occasional blemish.

Would I recommend Garnier?

Honestly, no. The Garnier Micellar Cleansing Jelly Water with Charcoal is expensive for what it is. If you use regular micellar water, a cleansing oil, or a sustainable makeup remover like the MakeUp Eraser, it is not necessary to purchase this Micellar Cleansing Jelly Water from Garnier. Also, the product claims to reduce blackheads and blemishes after a week of use, but I did not notice a difference.

NYX Duck Plump High Pigment Plumping Lip Gloss

I see ads all the time on YouTube for NYX, and one of the ads was the NYX Duck Plump with Cardi B. I do not really like plumping glosses, but I was curious about this one from NYX. Since I had a gift card for the mall, I decided to get the NYX Duck Plump for 150 kr / $22 from Matas.

I decided on the Strike a Rose shade, which is a pretty dusty rose color. The NYX Duck Plump is like a plumping gloss, but it has more pigment. The Duck Plump contains spicy ginger for a plumping effect, but it is intense for the first few minutes. Even after wearing the Duck Plump for an hour, I still notice a tingling effect, but it is more subdued. The Duck Plump also does not taste good if you get any of the gloss in your mouth. Furthermore, the Duck Plump is not transfer-proof since it is just a gloss. The color will come off with eating and drinking.

Now the big question is do my lips look plumper with the NYX Duck Plump? Honestly, I could not tell the difference even after an hour of wearing the gloss. My lips are maybe slightly plumper, but they just look the same.

Would I recommend NYX?

No. The shades of the NYX Duck Plump High Pigment Plumping Lip Gloss are pretty and pigmented, but the plumping effect is intense and lasts more than an hour. The taste is also bad and I could not really tell a difference in my lips from the plumping effect. After trying the Duck Plump for myself, I read the reviews on Matas, and it has a 3.3-star rating out of 5. One of the reviewers specifically stated they tried the gloss because of all the rampant ads, but it is only spicy and does not have a plumping effect.

Food

Van Wonderen Stroopwafels

I have been seeing ads on Instagram for many months for Van Wonderen Stroopwafels. Van Wonderen Stroopwafels is a shop in Amsterdam that sells stroopwafels, and they ship some of their products. I especially remember during the 2023 Black Friday season they had a sale, but I did not place an order because I read reviews that people were not receiving their orders. However, after continuously receiving more ads and reading positive reviews after Black Friday was over, I placed an order on May 3rd, which was then delivered on May 8th.

I ordered the Original Topping Tin, which came with 6 stroopwafels. I decided to pick 6 different flavors including Brownie, Oreo, Caramel Fudge, KitKat, Cruncy Hazelnut, and White Chocolate. The tin is normally 229 kr / $33, but it was half off for 115 kr / $16.50 with 32 kr / $5 shipping for a total of 147 kr / $21.50. My first thought when opening the tin is that there is so much plastic. There are 2 layers of plastic to hold the stroopwafels and a plastic sheet with the Van Wonderen name in between the layers and on top. Also, each stroopwafel is individually wrapped in plastic. I think it would be great if they found plastic-free alternatives especially for the holders because there is a lot of plastic in just one tin. However, the tin itself is cute and can be reused.

The stroopwafels themselves are delicious. The stroopwafel is a thin waffle cut in half with a caramel layer in the middle. Half of the top of the stroopwafel is covered in chocolate and the chosen topping. All the toppings were delicious! I enjoyed the caramel with the caramel chunks and the Oreo ones. My daughter loved the brownie and KitKat stroopwafels while my partner liked the hazelnut.

Would I recommend Van Wonderen Stroopwafels?

No. The stroopwafels are delicious and there is a good variety of toppings. However, 115 kr / $16.50 on sale for 6 small stroopwafels is not worth it. Plus the packaging is layer upon layer of plastic. If I visited Amsterdam, I would be interested in visiting the store, but I would not order online again.

The Van Wonderen Stroopwafels in the White Chocolate, Oreo, Caramel Fudge, Kit Kit, Crunchy Hazelnut, and Brownie toppings.

Lay’s Max

Lay’s recently launched their Max chips, which are their regular flavors with max crunch and max taste. I have seen so many ads for Lay’s Max on TikTok and YouTube, and they had different flavors at the grocery store for 12 kr / $1.75. I decided to try the Sour Cream and Onion flavor as that is one of my favorite chip flavors. The Lay’s Max chips taste just like their regular sour cream and onion chips, which is a good flavor. The only difference I noticed was in the appearance of the chips themselves, and the chips have ridges compared to the regular smooth Lay’s chips.

Would I recommend Lay’s Max?

Yes, I would. The Lay’s Max chips are affordable and would make a great snack. The Max chips also have the same good taste as their regular chips.

The bag of the Lay's Max Sour Cream Onion next to a few of the chips.

Namaste

I occasionally see ads on Instagram for Namaste, which is an Indian restaurant in downtown Roskilde. I have eaten at Namaste before with my partner, and the food is delicious. The restaurant was packed when we visited, and we had to wait a bit for the food, but the service was good. Since the restaurant is usually busy, I highly recommend getting a reservation beforehand! Namaste also has a good selection of vegetarian starters and dishes. I ordered the Paneer Butter Masala for 149 kr / $21, which is served with rice. The dish was so tasty! Also, the portion size is a good size and I was full after eating. Namaste also has classic, chicken, and lamb dishes for 159-169 kr / $23-24, which is pretty standard for Indian restaurants in Denmark.

Would I recommend Namaste?

Yes. The food is delicious, and there is a nice selection of vegetarian dishes. I would recommend eating at Namaste if you are in Roskilde and want good Indian food.

WokShop

I have also been seeing ads for WokShop on Instagram, which is a restaurant with various locations in Denmark including Roskilde. WokShop specializes in Thai food, and I have eaten at the location in Ro’s Torv a couple of times. WokShop has a good selection of vegetarian dishes, and the last time I ate there, I ordered the Fried noodles with tofu. The dish comes with tofu, rice noodles, egg, bean sprouts, and green onions in a tamarind sauce. The dish can also be made vegan without eggs. The fried noodles with tofu dish is delicious and filling, and I highly recommend it if you like tofu. If you are not a fan of tofu, WokShop also has other noodle dishes with different meats along with wok, curries, soups, and salads.

Would I recommend WokShop?

Yes, I would. The food is delicious, and there is a good selection of vegetarian dishes. The service is also good, and if you are in Denmark and come across a WokShop location, I do recommend eating there.

Drink

Sunjoy

I have seen numerous ads for Sunjoy, which is a Danish drink brand. Sunjoy is like a juice with no carbonation. The normal price for a bottle of Sunjoy is 17 kr / $2.50, and there are different flavors like Raspberry, Orange, Tropical, Pineapple, and Coconut. I decided on the Grapefruit Strawberry flavor, and it has a good fruity taste. I also tried Orange Strawberry, and it is a nice combination. My daughter likes the drinks too because they have good flavor and no carbonation. I would not drink Sunjoy all the time, but it would be a nice treat now and then especially when the drinks go on sale for 10 kr / $1.50.

Would I recommend Sunjoy?

Yes. The Sunjoy flavors are good, and they are also a good price especially when they go on sale.

The bottle of the Sunjoy Grapefruit & Strawberry drink.

Aqua d’Or Vitamins

Aqua d’Or is a Danish brand that sells bottled natural mineral water. They have expanded their range of products to include sparkling water and iced tea. The newest product that I have seen ads for on YouTube is the Vitamins range, which is mineral water with added vitamins, minerals, and natural flavor. There are 3 different varieties including Recover, Protect, and Level Up. I specifically saw the ad for the Vitamins Recover, which is raspberry flavored, and contains Vitamin B5 to maintain mental performance. I found a bottle of the drink for 10 kr / $1.50 at the grocery store.

The Aqua d’Or Vitamins Recover does not contain any sugar, but it does contain an artificial sweetener. However, the drink is not overly sweet, and it has a good raspberry flavor. The Aqua d’Or Vitamins drinks remind me of Vitaminwater Zero Sugar, but there are not as many flavor varieties. After trying the the Vitamins Recover drink, I also tried the Vitamins Protect, which is peach flavored, and the Vitamins Level Up, which is lemon and elderflower flavored. The Protect flavor reminded me a lot of the Aqua d’Or Peach Ice Tea. However, the Protect was my least favorite out of the Vitamins drinks. The Level Up flavor was my second favorite. It had a strong lemon flavor, and the elderflower added a floral hint.

Would I recommend Aqua d’Or?

Yes. The Aqua d’Or Vitamins Recover drink had a good flavor and price. I also liked the Level Up flavor, and the Protect flavor tastes like the Aqua d’Or Ice Tea. I would get another bottle to drink if I am out and about.

The Aqua d'Or Vitamins Recover drink.

Red Bull The Summer Edition

I get ads all the time, especially on YouTube for Red Bull. I do not like the taste of the regular Red Bull, but I like the flavored variations. Red Bull is a good energy drink if I need a pick-me-up, and a can is usually on sale for 12 kr / $2. The Summer Edition of Red Bull is Curuba Elderflower flavored. Curuba is also known as banana passionfruit, but I have never heard of it before or tried it. However, I do like elderflower drinks. Curuba and elderflower are a good combination, but it is hard to describe. If I had to describe it, I would say it has a tropical flavor with a hint of floral, which is tasty.

Would I recommend Red Bull?

Yes. The Summer Edition of Red Bull has a good flavor. The curuba and elderflower are also a nice combination of flavors I have not had until now.

The Summer Edition of Red Bull which is curuba and elderflower flavored. I see ads all the time for Red Bull on YouTube.

McDonald’s Shakespresso

I see ads all the time on YouTube for McDonald’s, and one ad was for their new Shakespresso. To preface, I do not like coffee. However, I like frappes that have coffee flavor such as McDonald’s Coffee and Caramel Frappe. The Shakespresso is a vanilla milkshake with espresso for 35 kr / $5, but it tastes only like espresso with no milkshake flavor. I took one sip and I could not drink anymore. I had my partner try the Shakespresso, and he likes coffee and drinks black coffee or coffee with milk. He thought the taste was horrible too!

Would I recommend McDonald’s?

No! The Shakespresso tasted horrible. Despite being a vanilla milkshake, there is no milkshake flavor and it just tastes like drinking an espresso shot. Even if you like coffee, I would not recommend it.

Games

Star Stable

I have seen ads on YouTube for Star Stable, which is a free online horse game filled with adventure. You first sign up on the website and customize your character and horse. You pick the names from the drop-down menu, which I like as it prevents children from sharing their real names online. After signing up, you download the game. The game is only 442 MB, so it does not take up a lot of space on the computer.

There are in-game purchases where you can buy a subscription for star coins or one-off purchases. 100 coins is 39 kr / $5.50 or a monthly subscription is 55 kr / $8 for 100 coins + 100 coins every week for 500 coins a month. You use the coins to make in-game purchases like clothing for your character and accessories for your horse. However, you earn money from playing the game that you can use to buy the same items.

The main focus of Star Stable is completing quests and caring for your horse. However, there are a lot of cut scenes and dialogue, especially in the beginning. I found myself just clicking through the dialogue to continue the quests, and I imagine others who play the game would do the same. The quests are easy to follow because the game shows you on the map where to go. When you are riding on your horse, you can see other players and their horses. You can send players friend requests, and there is a chat with all the players. When I checked the chat a few times, it was just players asking for help with the quests. Besides that, I found the movement system a bit awkward and took some time to get used to.

Would I recommend Star Stable?

Star Stable could be a fun game for players if they like horses and taking care of them. There are also a lot of customization options and quests to complete. However, all the dialogue is definitely a minus.

Yes Your Highness

Yes Your Highness is another game I saw ads for on YouTube. The game is a free mobile game, and it has a 4.4-star rating on the Google Play Store with over 2,000 reviews. In the game, you play as a noble lord in a highly immersive setting. When you start the game, you choose between being a queen or king, but you are always referred to as lord in the story. Then you choose from 6 preset characters with light skin, and it is terrible there is no diversity. Afterward, you randomize a name or write your own name.

Next, you choose any lover between 2 women and 2 men. After choosing a lover, there is a scandalous scene. Then you get into the core of the game. The main quest of the game is to help vagrants, make them citizens, build up the land and city, battle, and repeat. You can get sucked into the game because it seems like there is always something to do with the quests. However, the game is not really for me. I played Game of Sultans in the past and Yes Your Highness is pretty much the same gameplay. If you enjoy games where you slowly build up a city, it might be worth checking out. Also, the game is free to play, but there are in-game purchases. However, I did not feel like it was necessary to make any purchases during my time playing.

Would I recommend Yes Your Highness?

No, I would not. Yes Your Highness is like all other mobile games out there where you are a ruler and build up a city. The game offers nothing new, and to me, it was not that fun.

QuizTest

The last website I am trying out is QuizTest, and I see ads all the time to take quizzes on YouTube. The ad I specifically saw is for the quiz ‘Which Country Do You Look Like?’. However, the QuizTest website is horrible and riddled with ads. For the actual quiz, you just click the start button and it gives you a random country. I did not upload any photos or answer any questions. I took the quiz a few times just to confirm how horrible of a quiz it is, and I got the results of a British girl, a Dutch girl, a Polish girl, and a Brazilian girl.

Would I recommend QuizTest?

No! QuizTest randomly gives you results that are not at all related to you. These quiz sites are not worth the time because you just click a button or answer a single question.

Final Thoughts

These products were a mixed bag! There were some highs including the Wild deodorant that I would highly recommend and the Aqua d’Or Vitamins drinks that were tasty. There were also several products I already tried before like Snag Tights and the food from Namaste. However, there were some lows too. I had the worst experience with HeyShape as my order was never delivered and their customer support was terrible. There were also a few products I did not like including the NYX Duck Plump and McDonald’s Shakespresso. That said, I am glad I was able to try new brands and products from social media ads!

A Warning About Scam Ads

To end this post, I wanted to share a warning about scam ads. When I was looking for ads on various social media platforms, I came across some scam ads, especially for Lucy & Yak and Shein. If you click on ads while scrolling on social media, be aware that not all the ads are from legit sellers. The ads will use actual videos or photos from the websites, but they are posted by fake accounts.

To avoid being scammed, check the name of the account. If the account is “Summer Warehouse Sale” or a random string of letters and numbers, then it is not a real account. You can also click on the account name. If they have no or few followers, you know it is not the real account.

Also, if you click on the link, check the URL. The links will often take you to a “.shop” website that is intended to look like the real website. You can do a Google search for the brand so you know what the real URL is and compare it to the one you clicked on. For Lucy & Yak, the real website is https://lucyandyak.com so any .shop websites are scams.

A scam Instagram ad that is posed by the account 'Summer Warehouse Sale'´
The ad uses a real video from the Lucy & Yak TikTok account and tastes that the Lucy & Yak clothing is only £2.99 today. The ad has a shop now button that takes you to a fake Lucy & Yak website.
A scam Instagram ad that uses a real Lucy & Yak TikTok video.

Have you ever purchased a product from an ad on social media? What was your experience?

Thank you for the heads-up about scam ads! It’s so important to be cautious when clicking on ads, especially for popular brands like Lucy & Yak and Shein. Knowing that scammers use real photos and videos makes it even trickier, so I appreciate the reminder to always verify the seller before making a purchase.

You’re welcome! I imagine if you’re just scrolling on social media and see an ad that intrigues you, a lot people would click on it without verifying the seller, so I thought it was important to highlight that there are scam ads!

Oooof, any business wanting you to remove a negative review after a full refund is worth avoiding! I’m happy you stuck to your guns and kept the review up since it’s important to let others know what could happen and let them decide if they want to risk ordering from Heyshape. I’m way too skeptical about most products advertised on Instagram (unless it’s from a well-known brand) because I either think they’re a scam or order cheap goods off AliExpress and mark them up.

Thank you for the insightful post. You’re brave to try out new products!

I completely agree! I still had a bad experience with their customer service so just because they eventually gave me a full refund, it doesn’t mean I should have to delete my negative review!
Also, I’ve read other reviews on Trustpilot for Heyshape, and some have talked about how the quality is poor and made from flimsy material so it does make me wonder if they are some AliExpress bodysuits that they labeled and repackaged..

Oh my word this was so refreshing!
A great idea to test those ads that keep cropping up, and I massively appreciate the honesty of your reviews, from the good, to the overpriced, the overpackaged, and the really bad. I hope you never hear from Heyshape again!

Thank you! It was fun to test these products from ads, and I’ve blocked Heyshape on all social media accounts so hopefully I won’t see their ads anymore!

Goodness, the customer service with HeyShape sounded terrible! And to ask you to change or remove your honest review that reflects your experience is maddening. At least a lot of the other products were good and you would recommend them to make up for that.

HeyShape has been the worst company I’ve dealt with in a long time! Not only did they completely ignore my problem in my first email to them, they also wanted me to change my 1 star remove or delete it just because they refunded me! That’s not how it works!
Yes there were some other great products I tried!

Thank you! Yes some of these brands are Danish so they’re not well known outside of Denmark, some others like Snag and Wild do ship worldwide!

I did want to try a mix of products! I definitely recommend Snag Tights, and Sunjoy is refreshing! In general, I like NYX’s products, but I wasn’t a fan of the Duck Plump

I can’t believe Heyshape wanted you to remove your review on Trustpilot, that in itself deserves a one-star review! A great post and I loved your review of all of these products x

I was shocked when they requested I remove my review! It makes me wonder how many others wrote a bad review on Trustpilot and then removed it or changed it to a higher rating just because a resolution was reached. I still had a bad experience with their customer service and it took almost 2 weeks to get a refund.

Thank you so much! I did like the color of the NYX Duck Plump, but the plumping effect wasn’t for me. Also, Lay’s chips are yummy!
