7 Ways to Get A Better Night’s Sleep

Updated on November 26th, 2025

AD – PR Product | Occasionally, I struggle with falling and staying asleep. However, in this post, I wanted to share some product suggestions and tips to get a better night’s sleep.

Memory Foam Pillow

Recently, both my partner and I purchased memory foam pillows. The pillows we had were old and had lost their fluff, and I had to continuously try and fluff it to make it comfortable. However, with the memory foam pillow, I do not have to worry about that anymore. The pillow stays its shape, and it is so comfortable to sleep on, regardless of whether I am sleeping on my back or my side. The brand of pillows we bought is WELLPUR, but there are numerous other brands of memory foam pillows, and I would recommend trying one out.

The Wellpur memory foam pillow

Silk Pillowcase

Last year, I was gifted the Calidad Home silk pillowcase, which I included in my Mother’s Day Gift Guide. The pillowcase is made from 100% mulberry silk, and it is naturally hypoallergenic and free from harmful chemicals. The pillowcase is so soft, and it helps me have a good night’s sleep. The silk also makes my hair less frizzy in the morning, which is another good benefit of the pillowcase. If you have not already, I definitely recommend trying out a silk pillowcase to see if it can help you have a better night’s sleep. Furthermore, you can look into getting a cooling comforter if you get warm and struggle to fall asleep at night.

IDentity Lingerie PJs

I was gifted both the Japanese black satin pyjamas and the pink satin and lace dressing gown from IDentity Lingerie. The black pyjama set includes a long-sleeve shirt and matching trousers. The pyjamas are available in sizes S-XXL as well as custom sizing. They are also available in 6 other colors, including blush pink, gold, green, navy, purple, and white. The pyjamas are so soft, and I ordered the size XL. The pyjamas were big enough to fit me with room to spare, and they were comfortable to wear. The dressing gown is full-length with long sleeves and features lace trim. The dressing gown is available in XS-S, M-L, XL-XXL, and custom sizing and length as well. Like the pyjama set, the dressing gown is so soft and comfortable to wear. I also love the detailing on the sleeves.

I also wanted to share a little background on IDentity Lingerie. They are based in Lincolnshire, UK, and they make ethical and sustainable nightwear and lingerie for all body types. The nightwear and lingerie are high-quality and have a more comfortable fit. IDentity Lingerie also ships worldwide!

WellBeSleep Shots

I was also gifted 3 fruit shots from WellBeSleep. The shots use organic as well as natural ingredients, including lemon balm extract to help you wind down and get better rest. The shots are available in these 3 flavors:

  • Apple, Beetroot, and Ginger – I am not the biggest fan of ginger, so this was my least favorite shot out of the 3. However, I could still drink it.
  • Apple and Blueberry – this flavor was my favorite, and it tasted delicious!
  • Apple, Turmeric, and Elderflower – I love elderflower, so I was excited to try this one. It tasted good, and it was my second favorite flavor.

If you do like fruit juices, it may be worthwhile giving the WellBeSleep shots a try!

The 3 Wellbesleep shots

Have a Consistent Nighttime Routine

Now I wanted to include some tips. I find it beneficial to go to bed around the same time. I aim for 10:30 PM as I have to be up in the morning at 6:30 AM to get my daughter ready for school. Going to bed around the same time helps create a consistent sleeping schedule. Before I go to bed, I will go through my nighttime routine of brushing my teeth, doing my evening skincare routine, and getting a glass of water to drink. You can also do bedtime yoga or meditation to help your body and mind relax before bed.

Do Small Tasks in the Evening

In the mornings, I make my daughter’s breakfast and lunch and get her dressed for school. I find that cleaning her lunch boxes and water bottle and picking out her clothes the evening before is helpful. Otherwise, I could be worried that I do not have enough time in the morning and will be late for school. I also pick out clothes for myself the evening before, so I do not have to go digging through my dresser for something to wear.

When I have my Danish classes, I make sure my school bag is packed the evening before, too. I do not want to forget anything in the morning between dropping off my daughter and getting breakfast for myself. Furthermore, you can also make a to-do list for the next day so you do not forget anything you have to do. These small tasks do not take that long to do, but in the mornings when you are limited in time, doing the tasks in the evening makes the morning less hectic, and you can also relax when you are getting ready for bed. But do not forget to do some relaxing tasks before bed, too! For example, doing something that calms the brain, such as playing a game of Sudoku before bed, or even reading a book.

Separate Your Workspace from Your Bedroom

One of my favorite classes in university was my introduction to psychology class, as my professors were fantastic, and I learned a lot of practical information. One of those pieces of information is the importance of separating your workspace from the bedroom. If you are constantly working in your bed, your brain will associate the bed with working. Then, when it comes time to go to sleep, you may find it difficult to fall asleep. The bedroom should be a place where you can relax, and if you can, consider where you are working and the effects it may have on your sleep.

Another practical bit of information I learned is that if you cannot sleep, get up instead of forcing yourself to try to fall asleep. If you stay in bed, it reinforces the idea in your brain that the bed is a place for tossing and turning and being awake. By getting up, you are instead reinforcing that the bed is for sleeping. When you get up, you can do a low-impact activity such as reading, meditating, or listening to quiet music. Then, when you start feeling sleepy, you can go back to bed. For more suggestions on how to get a better night’s sleep, you can read Joanna Victoria’s post on 4 Ways to Relax Before Bedtime.

I still haven’t tried a silk pillowcase and so want to. Will get me one soon. I really the idea of those black silk pj’s, I wonder how comfy they were. I haven’t heard of fruit shots before. And I agree to get off the bed because you only feel restless without actually falling asleep. Loved the lingerie review. Xx

I definitely recommend a silk pillowcase!
The silk pjs are sooo soft & comfy & they’re great to wear to bed or if you’re spending the day at home.
The fruit shots were delicious & I actually did feel sleepy after drinking them!
Yes for sure! Luckily I often don’t have trouble falling asleep, but when I do, I go into the living room until I start feeling tired again.
      Thank you!

Great tips! I live by my memory foam and silk pillow case. I recently heard the tip too about getting up if you can’t sleep, and it’s something I need to practice! I often have trouble sleeping, but I find reading a book before bed is a calming and relaxing tip to help me!

The frustrating thing is I know I need to create an actual nighttime routine but I just don’t stick to anything for very long. Curious about the fruit shots, how long before bed did you drink them, did you feel like they made any difference?

I work nights and sleep during the day, so am always looking for ways to get better sleep. I’m so intrigued by the WellBeSleep shots. I’ve never heard of anything like them before. One of my go-to tips for sleep, which you shared, is to have a routine. I find it so helpful to have set things I do which make me know I’m heading to sleep soon.

Separating my workspace from my bedroom, having a nighttime routine, and sleeping on a comfortable pillow have all really helped me get a better night’s sleep. I also swear by diffusing lavender essential oils, yoga and meditation before bed, and sometimes a calming tea! Getting a good night of sleep is so important in order to have a good day!

My sleep is so messed up at the moment, I just can’t seem to stay asleep. Which is unusual for me. Normally, once I’m asleep, I stay asleep. The only hard part was getting to sleep in the first place.

I’ve used a memory foam pillow for the best part of a decade, and I would recommend them, especially if you’re a side sleeper. I’d never considered using silk pillow cases though, so I might look into that, if the costs are reasonable.

How are the shots meant to help you sleep?

I’m sorry to hear you’re having a hard time staying asleep & I hope you’ll be able to figure out why & what you can do to help.
Silk pillow cases vary in prices. The one I have was £50, but I know there are some around £20.
The shots contain lemon balm which has a calming effect, reduces mild anxiety & helps sleep onset.
