Cooling Comforter
To help stay cool and comfortable in the night, I recommend the Elegear Cooling Comforter. The lightweight comforter is made from Arc-Chill fabric that absorbs body heat and reduces skin temperature, which is perfect for hot sleepers and restless nights. The comforter is double-sided, with the top side being made from the Arc-Chill fabric that is ideal for hot summers and warmer nights. The bottom side is made from a soft knitted fabric that is great for spring and fall nights. Furthermore, the comforter is durable and machine washable. The comforter is available in twin, queen, and king sizes as well as in black, blue, dark day, light gray, navy blue, striped gray, and gradient colors.
I have been gifted the blue Elegear Cooling Comforter, and it has been fantastic to use. I first tried the cooling side, and it actually does feel cool on the skin, and it is perfect for hot days and nights. On nights when the temperature dropped, I flipped the comforter over to the bottom side. The comforter is so soft and comfortable to sleep with. If you are looking for a dual-purpose cooling comforter that can be used for both warmer and cooler nights, I highly recommend trying out the Elegear Cooling Comforter.

Loose Sleepwear
The clothes you wear to bed can also help you keep cool at night. Instead of form-fitting pajamas made from polyester, opt for loose sleepwear made from breathable fabrics. One recommended fabric is cotton, as it is soft and lightweight. However, if you are prone to sweating during the night, I recommend other fabrics like linen, bamboo, tencel, and silk.
Temperature Control
It is also beneficial to keep the temperature cool while you sleep. The ideal temperature for sleep varies from person to person. However, the typical range is 60° to 65°F (16° to 18°C). You should take note of what the thermostat is set at and notice how well you sleep. If you feel too hot and restless, you can lower the temperature to see if your sleep quality improves. If you do not have AC, you can open the window to cool down the room and get fresh air. You can also use a fan to circulate the air and keep the room cool during the night.
Blackout Curtains
There are numerous benefits of blackout curtains. The main benefit is that blackout curtains block out sunlight. Therefore, you will not be woken up by the sun, and you will be able to get restful sleep. Blackout curtains are also beneficial on warmer days by keeping the room cool. The curtains provide a barrier from the outdoor heat, and they can even help reduce your energy bills.
Declutter Your Bedroom
If you are struggling to get a good night’s sleep, the clutter in your bedroom might be one factor contributing to your restless sleep. Clutter does impact stress, and having piles of clothes, tons of trinkets on shelves, and stacks of books in your bedroom could be increasing your stress. Then, when you go to sleep in a cluttered environment, the stress is still present. Therefore, it is important to hang up your clothes, organize your shelves, and keep your room tidy to reduce the amount of stress in your sleep environment.
Calming Scents and Soundscapes
The last way to create a calming sleep environment is to use scents and soundscapes. For scents, lavender, chamomile, vetiver, bergamot, sandalwood, ylang-ylang, and jasmine are recommended to promote relaxation. You can find the scents in essential oils, diffusers, room and pillow sprays, bath products, and roll-ons. I recommend the This Works Deep Sleep Pillow Talk. The set includes a spray to use on your pillow before sleep, and the rollball to use on your pulse points, like your wrist. Both relieve stress and promote a calm body and mind.
Furthermore, using a calming soundscape can help promote a good night’s sleep. White noise is a common choice as it can come from a fan, air conditioner, or air purifier that is running in the background as you sleep. Brown noise can also be helpful. Furthermore, you can try listening to rain, ocean, or nature soundscapes or slow piano music as you fall asleep. You can listen to a playlist on YouTube or Spotify. Furthermore, you can download an app like Sleep Sounds to see if having a soundscape promotes a better sleep environment for you.

Susan is right! Those are good one, we use soundscapes at night.
Yes she is and that is great to hear you use soundscapes
A cat (I’ve just adopted a new one) snuggled next to me always improves my sleep.
Aww that is so sweet!
These are all fantastic ideas. I have a tiny sound machine that provides me the white noise I need when my husband’s snoring keeps me awake. This paired with blackout curtains and a ceiling fan really help to give me a good night’s sleep.
Thanks! That is great you use a sound machine, blackout curtains, and a ceiling fan to get a good night’s sleep.
These are great suggestions! I sleep very hot so I have a cooling comforter and a Chilipad which is a pad that goes on top of the mattress and has water in it that can cool or heat. I can’t live without it!

This is such a helpful post. I love how you’ve covered not just the cooling comforter but also the other little details that make such a difference like breathable sleepwear, blackout curtains, and even calming scents. The idea of having both cooling and soft sides on the comforter sounds amazing, especially for the change of seasons. Definitely going to try adding some lavender spray and soundscapes to my night routine too. Thanks for all the great tips.

We invested in some shutters a few years ago and they’ve made ALL the difference to airflow in our bedroom. But I do like the look of that cooling comforter as I do get very hot at night, even in Winter!
The shutters do sound like they were a good investment! The cooling comforter is fantastic!
