This week I wanted to share a fun makeup challenge I did with my daughter, where she picks the makeup I would use!
There are different variations of this challenge, such as My Family Picks My Makeup Challenge, Husband, Boyfriend, Friend, or Pet, but since my daughter likes makeup, I thought it would be fun to have her pick!
The Makeup Look
First, I started off with eyeshadow primer, and my daughter picked the NYX Glitter Primer because she liked that the packaging was shiny. Next was an eyeshadow palette, and I let my daughter pick from 10 palettes (I have more, but I did not want to overwhelm her). She immediately picked the Jolie Beauty Bomb Dot Com Palette because she liked the glitter, and she chose the red Cherry Bomb shade because it reminded her of Christmas. I told my daughter that the glitter goes on top, so I needed something underneath, and I asked her to pick another palette. She chose the Juvia’s Place Warrior 3 Palette, and of course, she picked the 2 shimmer shades, Kongo and Karama, along with the pink shade Fanti. I only use 1 mascara at a time, so I used the Tarte Lights, Cameras, Lashes mascara to complete my eye look.
Next up was the face makeup! I had two primers, and my daughter picked the Laura Mercier Primer because it was bigger than the Fenty Primer. For concealer, I only had 1 concealer as I misplaced my Uoma concealer, and I used the Tarte Creaseless concealer under my eyes. For foundation, I had 6 different liquid and powder foundations for my daughter to pick from, and she ended up choosing the newest liquid foundation from my mother which is the Tarte Face Tape Foundation. Since my daughter chose a liquid foundation for me to use, I set it with the Danessa Myricks Powder. I like the Tarte Face Tape Foundation, but it is a little too light for me, so I topped it with the NYX Powder Foundation as well.
As far as blush, I showed my daughter all the blush singles and the Beauty Bakerie palette I had, and she chose the Beauty Bakerie Pisa Cake Blush Palette because it had 3 colors. I told her to pick one color, and she picked the Bon Appétit shade. Since the blush palette has a lot of fallout in the pan, I made sure to use my brush lightly. For a highlighter, I showed my daughter the powder and liquid highlighters I had, and she picked the one liquid highlighter I had because the packaging reminded her of a baby bottle. I am not the biggest of liquid highlighters, but I went ahead and used the OPV Beauty Illuminator on my cheeks.
Lastly, I needed to complete my look with a lip product, and I first let my daughter choose between regular lipstick, liquid lipstick, or lip gloss that I kept in separate makeup bags. She chose liquid lipstick, so I gave her the makeup bag and she picked the Urban Decay Vice Liquid Lipstick in Crimson.
Overall, it was fun using the makeup my daughter picked especially since she picked shades I normally would not use together like red and blue eyeshadow with red lipstick.

What a fun way to spend time with your daughter! I love her creativity. Kids are all about color and fun, which is something we can do better with as adults. I’ve never heard of doing a challenge like this, but now you’ve got me thinking. Good for you Karalee, just going with it. I’m curious about what your daughter thought of her finished product?

Hehe. How old is your daughter? My little niece likes doing my hair though she’s very young but enjoys it. Quite challenging colors she picked and I’ve seen you’re really good with executing colors. It’s my scare so I don’t but I applaud all who do. I love tarte and Laura Mercier products. And I’ve seen them be better than a few of Fenty you’re right about the primer. And I love that mascara. <3Isa a. Blogger http://bit.ly/39f9FN0

Thank you! Haha yes!
This is so fun! I love how kids just immediately do for bright colours and glitter when we’d usually pick something a little more muted
This is such a good idea for a blog post, it must have been a lot of fun to put together and the look is so fun! Love the glitter x
Thank you! It was fun to do & I love the glitter too!
It was fun & yes haha. The first thing she picked was glitter 😂
It’s so sweet that you let your daughter pick for you. We’ve actual seen similar looks for 4th of July.
It was nice spending time with her & she had fun!
It is a very 4th of July look haha
Great idea for a makeup look. I love my glitter too and I am in my thirties. What’s the NYX glitter primer like? I have not tried any of the palettes you used. How many palettes do you have? I bought Revolution Pro Astrological, I Heart Makeup Eggs in Dragon (reds and golds) and Unicorn (purples) as well as Revolution’s Shimmer Brick palette (I have 1 shimmer brick in Rose Gold and love it). My new makeup fixing spray from Technic has glitter in it.
Thank you!
I love glitter too! The NYX glitter primer is great because it keeps the glitter in place.
I have too many palettes haha but the Jolie Beauty Bomb Dot Com palette is the only 100% glitter palette I have. I haven’t tried those palettes before! Ooo the Technic makeup spray sounds pretty!
This is such a sweet idea for a post and you ended up with a gorgeous bright look, great job!
Thank you so much!
