Guest Post | If you are reading this post, you are probably thinking it is about time your home got a little refresh. As the days continue to lengthen, the brightness of the seasons to come can be incentive enough for you to start a small renovation in your home.
There are many ways to approach renovating your home. However, creating a fresher space does not require you to lean into the heftier – and considerably more expensive – renovation options like a conversion or extension. It is often the little changes that make a home. With this in mind, what are some small ways you can bring your home back to expressive life?
Replace Your Kitchen Worktop
The first small renovation in this list relates to the heart of the home: the kitchen. Despite spending relatively less time in your kitchen, its vibe is vital to the overall vibe of your house. Even small changes in your kitchen can make a big difference. One such change might be to replace your worktop. Older granite-effect laminate worktops can darken the space, and date it quite badly. Newer patterned laminate worktops cost little to purchase. They can also be fitted with ease – giving you a nicer place to prepare your food and a fresher, brighter kitchen overall.

Address Your Internal Doors
In a similar way, you bring a fresh vibe into each room of your house by addressing the internal doors. For this small renovation, you do not even need to buy a new set of doors. If you want a newer, cleaner feel, you can simply repaint your existing doors and replace their handles. For an older, vintage look, you could sand them down and install thrifted brass handles.
Replace Your Radiators
Not all home improvements need to have an aesthetic result. Quality-of-life improvements are just as important to keep in mind and often address more pressing matters around your home. Your central heating is a case in point, as inefficient heating can lead to a cold home and expensive energy bills. Even just swapping your radiators out for double panel radiators can make a world of difference to the comfort of your home, making it a far more pleasant place.

DIY Some Shelves
Functionality and décor are not mutually exclusive either though. Some practical improvements can also enhance the feel of your home. This small renovation is true when it comes to shelving – at least when you use your own inspiration to create them. For instance, you could make a chic vintage-style drinks shelf for your kitchen with an older plank of wood and two cast iron L plates!
Add an Indoor Sauna
For a luxurious yet manageable upgrade, consider installing an indoor sauna. This small yet impactful addition elevates the comfort of your home and adds to its value. An indoor sauna can be a perfect retreat for relaxation and rejuvenation right in the comfort of your own space. With various models ranging from compact single-person units to more extensive, multi-seat configurations, an indoor sauna fits nearly any home and budget. Installing an indoor sauna offers a daily escape and a unique feature that potential homebuyers find appealing.
Add Wall Panels
For a truly cozy aesthetic addition to your home, you could cover plain painted walls in favor of wall panels. Wall panels add texture and depth to your walls. Wall panels can make for a cozier room and give you more options for color and contrast! You might also consider ways to add cultured stone panels for a different effect. While standard wall panels tend to provide a smooth, uniform finish, these types of stones introduce a more organic texture and a sense of permanence. The contrast between the clean lines of traditional panels and the rugged look of stone can help define different areas or highlight focal points. Both have their place—it just depends on the look and feel you’re going for.
Great ideas! Replacing your kitchen worktop can make a huge difference! It’s amazing how something so simple can brighten up your space. Thank you for sharing!
Thank you and I completely agree!
Oh these are all GREAT ideas! Yes I feel you with the home refresh. I had a wardrobe I inherited from my mom. It was not exactly my style but it was a great piece so I refurbished it. I had the four panels on the front painted to kind of look like linen and then I replaced the pulls. It is like a brand new piece!
