My Current Skincare Routine

Updated on March 5th, 2024

I occasionally switch up my skincare routine, and I wanted to share my current routine. I have oily acne-prone skin, so I tend to use products that help with oiliness and breakouts.

Morning Routine

After waking up, I wash my face with the Lush Herbalism Cleanser. I have used this cleanser for many months now and it is meant for those with oily and troubled skin. I love using this cleanser as my first step in my morning routine because it deep cleans my face while reducing the breakouts I have.
After using the cleanser I then apply the Lush Tea Tree Water Toner, which is also meant for oily skin. Even though this toner contains tea tree, it is diluted in water so it is mild on the skin. I love this toner because it keeps my face moisturized while reducing the oiliness.
Once the toner has dried, I apply the Naobay Oxygenating Cream Moisturizer. This moisturizer is great because I love the scent and it absorbs quickly and keeps my face moisturized.
For my lips I use the Lush Sugar Plum Fairy Lip Scrub. This lip scrub has a sweet blackcurrant scent, and it makes my lips soft and smooth.
I then apply a lip balm such as Chapstick. This lip balm helps keep my lips moisturized especially for when I wear liquid lipsticks.
That is it for my morning routine!

Nighttime Routine

The first step in my nighttime routine is to remove my makeup. I currently use the Nivea Daily Essentials Refreshing Micellar Water, which removes all of my makeup including my eye makeup.
After removing my makeup, I use the First Aid Beauty Cleanser. This cleanser helps remove any excess makeup and oil that the micellar water may have missed.
I then follow-up with the Lush Tea Tree Water Toner.
I do use masks about twice a week. I use The Body Shop Tea Tree 3-in-1 Wash Scrub Mask during the week and a Montagne Jeunesse Mask at the end of the week. I have also started trying out the La Théorie des Volcans Noir Eternae Masque Exfoliant.
I have used a variety of Montagne Jeunesse Masks, and my favorite has been the Blemish Mud Mask. This mask is meant for those with problem skin and it helps reduce any blemishes I have while making my face soft and clean.
I love The Body Shop Tea Tree 3-in-1 Wash Scrub Mask because it is meant for blemished skin and as a mask it deeply cleans my face while reducing blackheads and shine. This mask is also multipurpose so I can use it as a wash or scrub too.
I have used the La Théorie des Volcans Masque a few times now. This mask deep cleans my skin while leaving my face soft and smooth.
As needed I use the Mario Badescu Drying Lotion as a spot treatment. I apply this lotion to any blemish I have before I go to sleep, and in the morning the blemish is practically gone.
That is all I use for my nighttime routine!

Oils

I have been thinking about using a face oil during my nighttime routine. I have received several oils including the GOSH Overnight Primer Oil Essence and the Ooh! Oils of Heaven Baobab Face Oil, but I am concerned about the oils making my face even more oily. If you have oily skin and have used a face oil, have you seen any benefits?

I hope you enjoyed reading about my current skincare routine!
Do you use or have you used any of these products?

Oils are great for oily skin! Here’s a good guide on the types of oils to use depending on your skin type.

I’ve had great luck with balancing my skin using oils – sometimes I tend to over strip my t-zone where I’m most oily and my skin fights back by producing MORE oils.

I am lucky enough to have normal skin, but have watched what I use recently due to removal of face skin cancer. Finally starting to heal.

Lush’s herbalism cleared my acne up completely, I don’t use it anymore but I can’t say enough good words about it! & as for the oils, I have oily skin and I use rosehip oil at night, it has helped get rid of my acne scars and also moisturies as well. I sometimes wake up a bit oilier but after i’ve washed it off I don’t produce more oils throughout the day! x

I’m sorry you’ve had trouble with The Body Shop’s products, but you can always get samples from Lush (both in stores and online) so you can try the products before you buy them!

I love the tea tree water toner <3 I'm concerned about oils too, but my sister taught me to use them if i have breakouts to prevent scarring and stuff like that.

From what I read so far oils don’t make your face produce more oil, but they can help with scarring like you said! 😊
