I wanted to find a more affordable alternative to the Urban Decay All Nighter Setting Spray, so I bought the NYX Matte Finish Makeup Setting Spray at Ulta to try it out.

The NYX Matte Finish Setting Spray is easy to apply, and I only need to spray it several times to cover my whole face. The spray also dries quickly, and even though one of the main ingredients is water, it does not remove my makeup. When the spray dries down, it feels lightweight on my skin. My makeup does last for most of the day, but if I am out for more than 5 hours, I do need to touch it up. The spray also helps control shine, and my makeup remains matte and oil-free, which is good for people like me with oily skin. However, as I mentioned, these benefits also only last for about 4-5 hours.
Compared to the Urban Decay All Nighter Setting Spray, my makeup lasts all day or night for 8+ hours, and I do not need to touch up my makeup when using the Urban Decay spray. The Urban Decay setting spray also helps keep oil and shine at bay. However, the Urban Decay All Nighter Setting Spray is $34 for 4 ounces ($8.50 per ounce) compared to NYX’s Matte Finish Setting Spray, which is $10 for 2 ounces ($5 per ounce). You can also buy the jumbo size of the NYX Matte Finish Setting Spray which is an even better deal at $22 for 6 ounces ($3.67 per ounce). In comparison, the Urban Decay All Nighter Setting Spray makes my makeup last longer throughout the day, but it comes at a higher price than the NYX setting spray.
Overall, the NYX setting spray is a good alternative to Urban Decay, but it is not as long-lasting as I would like.

I use the dewy finish version and love it as I have dry skin. Would also recommend make up revolution setting spray as a cheap alternative get more for your money, but I’ve never found one that lives up to urban decay, guess you get what you pay for 🙊 xx

Hi Karalee. This setting spray is on my wish list. Now that I have also read your review I am wanting it more 😀 I want to get a setting spray, it will be the first time I use it. My skin is combo and sensitive. But we are changing seasons too, so I think it will last on my skin for several hours. Although.. not in the summer, just like you perhaps. Hugs!

I have only recently started using setting sprays, and I would recommend it as a last step to your makeup routine to make your makeup last longer! 😊
Are you sure it’s the spray tho? I use this spray and I don’t need to touch up at all. And I wear my makeup for 12 hours.
Yes I am! I generally have the same makeup routine and with Urban decay’s setting spray my makeup lasts all day/night, but with this setting spray my makeup doesn’t last nearly as long. I don’t know if it’s because I have oily skin or what, but this setting spray doesn’t last that long for me
