AD – Sponsored and PR Product | This post is a helpful guide on choosing the right fragrance for you from the different types of fragrances available and the scent families, as well as an introduction to Electimuss London and their Discovery Selection Box.
Types of Fragrances
Various types of fragrances are available with a range of fragrance concentrations and lasting power. Here are some common fragrance types:
- Parfum – Parfum is also known as pure perfume, and it is the most concentrated type of fragrance, with 20-30 percent fragrance concentration. Parfum also lasts up to 24 hours, and Electimuss London is a brand that offers pure perfumes.
- Eau de Parfum – Eau de Parfum has a fragrance concentration of 15-20 percent, lasting up to 8 hours.
- Eau de Toilette – Eau de Toilette has a 5-15 percent fragrance concentration and lasts around 3 hours.
- Eau de Cologne – Eau de Cologne are usually light, masculine scents with a fragrance concentration between 2-4 percent. Eau de Cologne tends to last around 2 hours.
- Eau Fraiche – Eau Fraiche is not a popular type of fragrance, and it has a 1-3 percent fragrance concentration. Eau fraiche lasts about an hour.
- Body Spray – Body sprays have around 1% fragrance concentration and tend to be the cheapest option for fragrance type. However, body sprays do not last long and need to be applied throughout the day.

Fragrance Scent Families
Each fragrance is comprised of different ingredients and fragrance families that make up the scent.
- Amber – Amber includes sensual and elegant scents that often include herbs and spices like cardamom, vanilla, cinnamon, saffron, pepper, clove, and anise.
- Aquatic – Aquatic scents are reminiscent of the ocean and sea breeze. Aquatic scents can incorporate salt and caviar.
- Citrus – Citrus scents are fresh and light and can include bergamot, mandarin, lemon, orange, and grapefruit.
- Floral – Floral scents are one of the most popular scent families. Floral scents are commonly used in feminine scents, but they can be used in masculine scents as well. Floral scents can comprise a single flower like rose, jasmine, geranium, ylang-ylang, and violet, or a combination of flowers.
- Fruity – Fruity scents are bright and cheerful and can include apple, strawberry, raspberry, pear, and peach.
- Woody – Woody scents tend to be more masculine and warm scents that incorporate sandalwood, cedar, patchouli, vetiver, oud, and musk.

Now that you know about the different types of fragrances and scent families, I wanted to introduce you to Electimuss London. Electimuss London was founded in 2015 as a luxury fragrance house. The Discovery Selection Box is the perfect way to find the right fragrance for you. I tend to enjoy fruity, floral scents, and my favorite perfume scents from Electimuss London are Rhodanthe and Imperium. Rhodanthe is inspired by queen Rhodanthe who was pursued by countless suitors. In an attempt to escape their advances, Rhodanthe sought protection from the goddess Diana, who turned her into a rose and her suitors into thorns. The Electimuss Rhodanthe perfume keeps the rose theme and has floral, fruity, and citrus ingredients of Bulgarian rose, violet, raspberry, pear, bergamot, and lemon. Furthermore, imperium was the supreme power held by intellectual and political leaders, and the Electimuss Imperium perfume radiates confidence and elegance. The perfume has floral and citrus ingredients, including rose, lily, jasmine, tuberose, and bergamot.
On the other hand, I am not a fan of woody and leather scents, and Vici Leather and Cupid’s Kiss were my least favorite. Vici Leather is a nod to Julius Caesar and his success. The perfume contains amber ingredients, including cinnamon and pink pepper, which are combined with leather. The Electimuss Cupid’s Kiss perfume is inspired by the complexity of love and has amber, woody, and a touch of floral and citrus ingredients with pink pepper, sandalwood, oud, suede, orris, and bergamot. Even though I am not fond of these two scents, the perfumes would be perfect for those who enjoy warmer scents. Additionally, all Electimuss London fragrances are pure perfumes with a concentration of 25% + fragrance, and the scents last all day and night.
These fragrances sound lovely. I’m definitely a floral oriental girl myself 🙂
I haven’t heard of this brand before but the fragrances sound lovely. And love the display box.
This is the first time I heard of this brand. My Favorite scent is floral. I hope this brand will be available in Malaysia soon. Thank you for sharing.
That’s a wonderful selection of fragrance families to try – I’ve not heard of this brand but I tend to go for citrus or florals as a preference. Currently wearing Penhaligon’s Luna, which I adore!
I haven’t heard of this brand before, it’s great that Electimuss London offers a wide range of fragrances and perfumes to try x
