Children’s Books by Melanie Lopata Review

Updated on May 7th, 2024

To follow up my Children’s Books by Beffy Review, this time I am reviewing four books by Melanie Lopata. I read all of the books for free on Amazon through Kindle Unlimited.

If I Were A Duck by Melanie Lopata book cover

If I Were A Duck

If I Were A Duck is Melanie’s second children’s book she published, and it is 24 pages long and for children ages 1-6. The story is about a boy who wants to be a duck for a day and all the things he would do as a duck. The illustrations are cute, and the rhyming makes the story flow. If I Were A Duck highlights a child’s imagination.

Annie to the Rescue by Melanie Lopata book cover

Annie to the Rescue

Annie to the Rescue is 32 pages long with illustrations and is appropriate for children 5-12 years old. The story is based on a girl who volunteers at an animal rescue with her mom. The book itself is about a girl who loves animals especially dogs and she wants a dog of her own. The short story is sweet and about the bond between children and their pets. The book also teaches the importance of patience and the responsibilities of having a pet. The book is great for any child who wants to have a pet of their own. Also, a portion of the proceeds of this book is donated to Pause 4 All Paws Animal Rescue.

Chrissy's Candy Shop by Melanie Lopata book cover

Chrissy’s Candy Shop

Chrissy’s Candy Shop is inspired by the author’s friend Chrissy who has her own business making candy tables. The book is 35 pages long and about a girl named Chrissy who wants to own a candy shop. The story also revolves around the relationship between Chrissy and her grandma, which was sweet to read. The illustrations add cuteness to the book while the story teaches children about not giving up their dreams and the value of family.

Border Buddies by Melanie Lopata book cover

Border Buddies

Border Buddies is Melanie’s first children’s chapter book that is based on her own dogs. The book is 30 pages long and for children ages 5-9. The story is about what happens when two border collies go on an adventure in the woods. The dogs have different personalities and are given dialogue, which makes the story fun to read. The book teaches about friendship and the importance of listening to rules, which makes it great for any child to read.

I LOVE the sound of Annie to the Rescue! I need to pick that up for my nieces – we are a family that’s always been involved in animal rescue efforts from adopting rescue dogs to fostering dogs and cats. They’d appreciate it.
