Holo Taco Holoween Collection Review

Updated on August 19th, 2026

Previously, I reviewed the Safiya x Holo Taco collection. I loved most of the nail polishes, but I have not bought any more Holo Taco polishes since. However, for 2025, Holo Taco released their first-ever Halloween collection, and I knew I had to try it. In this post, I want to share my review of the Holo Taco Holoween Collection.

What is Holo Taco?

Holo Taco is a nail polish brand started in 2019 by Cristine, better known as Simply Nailogical on YouTube. Over the years, Holo Taco has released a plethora of nail polish collections in a variety of formulas, from holographic to crème. 2025 marks the first year Holo Taco has released a Halloween-themed collection.

What is Included in the Holoween Collection?

The Holoween Collection includes 6 Halloween-themed nail polishes. The collection box is no longer available, but the individual nail polishes are available, with the exception of Simply Deceased, as it was a limited edition birthday shade. The nail polishes include:

  • Simply Deceased: A thermal polish that shifts from blackened burgundy to bright red with red iridescent flakes and scattered holo
  • Just Vamping: A deep purple crelly nail polish
  • Thirst Trap: A bright red metallic nail polish with shiny micro-flakes
  • Trick Or Trash: A black jelly base with multi-colored foil flakes
  • Dead Serious: A multichrome nail polish that shifts from blackened purple to red
  • So Toxic: A bright green crelly nail polish

Holo Taco Holoween Collection Review

Simply Deceased

For the past 5 years, Holo Taco has released a nail polish for Cristine’s birthday. However, Simply Deceased is the final birthday polish from Holo Taco. Simply Deceased is a thermal nail polish that changes depending on the temperature of the polish. In a cool state, the nail polish is burgundy, while in a warm state, the nail polish is a bright red. The nail polish does look best when two coats are applied, and I do like the red flakes.

Just Vamping

Just Vamping is a dark purple vampire-inspired shade. Since Just Vamping is a crelly nail polish, it is streaky with just one coat. However, it looks great with 2 coats and becomes that dark purple shade.

Thirst Trap

Another vampire-themed shade in the collection is Thirst Trap, which is a blood-red color. Thirst Trap looks good with only one coat, and it is my favorite shade out of the collection, as I love the red with the shimmer.

Trick or Trash

Trick or Trash is inspired by discarded Halloween candy wrappers with the multi-colored foil flakes. With one coat, the base of the nail polish is light gray, but the foil flakes are noticeable. However, with two coats, the base becomes black, and Trick or Trash is my second favorite nail polish out of the collection.

Dead Serious

Dead Serious is a shifting shade that changes from a blackened purple to a burgundy red depending on how the light hits the polish. The nail polish does look fine with just one coat, but the color is more opaque with two coats.

So Toxic

So Toxic is a bright green shade based on the color of toxic poison. Like with Just Vamping, So Toxic is a crelly nail polish that looks streaky with one coat. However, So Toxic does look better with two coats. So Toxic is my least favorite nail polish out of the collection because I am not a personal fan of the bright green color.

Overall Thoughts on the Holo Taco Holoween Collection

Overall, I do like the Holo Taco Holoween Collection. There is a nice variety of shades and finishes, from a black with multi-colored flakes to a bright green crelly. The nail polishes are perfect for Halloween, but I do think they are also wearable throughout the year. For example, Thirst Trap could be a nice holiday or Valentine’s Day shade while Dead Serious would be wonderful for an evening out. Even though So Toxic leans more towards Halloween with the bright green, I received the Fallen Flake Taco as a birthday gift. Paired with the topper, So Toxic does become a more wearable shade for the fall. I am curious about future Holo Taco Halloween collections now!

Have you tried Holo Taco before? What are your thoughts on the Holoween Collection?

I love both of the shades, and I do wish Simply Deceased was not limited edition so others could try it!

Thirst Trap seems like a year-round color, as it’s a simple red nail with a bit of sparkle! I’d also love Simply Deceased in my collection!

All of these colors are so fun and amazing for the Spooky Season!

I agree! Even though these nail polishes are in Halloween collection, many of them like Thirst Trap would be wearable year round

This is so cool! I had no idea that Simply Nailogical had her own brand. I agree that many of these colors would be wearable throughout the year, especially for fall too. Great review!
