Guest Post | Your hair is like any other part of your body. In order for it to appear vibrant, and for it to actually be healthy, you will need to provide it with the right support. During winter, the stress on your hair can be considerable. Therefore, it is crucial that we take haircare and nutrition seriously.
Moisturise Daily
At this time of year, our hair is exposed to severe changes in the temperature. The temperature changes can stem from the cold air outside, and the harshness of indoor heating. Both the cold hair and heating can suck the moisture from your hair. You can counteract the loss of moisture with the help of the right treatments. Hydrating shampoos and conditioners, ideally supplemented with the right vitamins for hair growth, can be extremely helpful.

Protective Styles
The way that you style your hair can make a big difference too. If you are looking for inspiration, you might look at traditions in countries where cold weather has been a fact of life for thousands of years. Nordic braids and plaits do not just look great – they provide protection too.
Scalp Care
You can care for your scalp directly, not only through hydrating serums and other treatments, but by massaging the scalp to improve blood flow and relieve stress. You can find products that do this for you – but you will need to get into the habit of using them for the massage to be effective.
Balanced Diet
If you are not providing your body with balanced meals, then it is unlikely that your body including your hair will thrive in winter. You will need the appropriate blend of essential oils, proteins, vitamins and minerals during winter. Ideally it is better to get these nutrients from foods, like leafy greens and oily fish, than from supplements.
If you are a vegetarian or a vegan, then you might find it more difficult to meet the required combination of protein, fat, and vitamin B12. That said, it is not impossible to do. If you are in doubt, the best approach is often to simply cut out processed foods. One of the best things that you can do for your hair might be to learn how to cook balanced meals.
Limit Heat
We have already touched upon the dangers posed by indoor heating. However, we should also be aware of the heat that we introduce deliberately. If you can avoid the use of curling wands, straighteners, and hot hair-dryers, then your hair will tend to be healthier and more resilient. To avoid using styling tools, you can consider changing your hair style or altering your schedule to allow more time for your hair to air dry.
You can also use specialised heat protection products. That said, it is important to know that these products are not perfect. Different brands and lines might offer varying levels of heat protection, and you will need to look for that one that matches your needs and budget.
These are all excellent tips. I can not begin to tell you how much better my hair looked in Paris I think it was a combination of the water, the water pressure and the no humidity. The water pressure at my family apartment in Paris is incredible. It is forceful it creates wind!
I come and the water pressure is awful it is like showering with a hose LOL.

Thank you! That is interesting to hear that your hair did better in Paris! The water pressure in your home does sound pretty bad!
