7 Features Every Mom Needs in a Family Car

Updated on December 15th, 2025

AD | When you become a mom for the first time, one of the first things you do is reconsider the vehicle you drive. Whether it is swapping out your current car for a family car with more space or opting for a vehicle that is overall safer, this is a behavior many new mothers adopt.

If you are looking for a family-friendly vehicle, you have come to the right place. Read on to discover seven must-have features for your mom car.

1. GPS

So many places to go, so little time! Make family outings a breeze by opting for a vehicle equipped with GPS navigation. With a GPS, going on vacations, road trips, and planning activities with the kids will provide peace of mind knowing you are heading in the right direction and how long until you arrive at your destination.

2. Keyless Entry

Moms almost always have their hands full. Whether it be carrying a baby or toddler on the hip or lugging around groceries, a vehicle with a keyless entry system allows for quick entry into your vehicle at the click of a button. This saves time, allows you to unlock your car without putting things down first, and even improves the safety of your family as you can get inside quicker.

3. Power Liftgate

Frequently, full hands call for a power liftgate for easy, convenient access to your trunk. Not only do power lift gates eliminate the need to manually open your trunk, but they also provide automatic lifting at the press of a button on your car or remote key.

If you want to mom-ify your vehicle even more, consider a vehicle with a power liftgate that is motion-sensored to allow you to open your trunk completely hands-free, without having to take out your remote or press a button on your key.

4. Large Center Console

Many moms carry around a purse, and if you are the type who likes to place your purse on your center console, then looking for a vehicle with a large center console is a must. What is more, large center consoles provide greater comfort, more storage for family essentials like baby wipes or snacks, and often feature more cup holders.

5. Spyglass

When your kids are up to no good, a spyglass inside your car comes in handy. This special mirror sits above your rear-view mirror, allowing you to have a clear look at your passengers without needing to adjust your rear-view mirror.

6. Blind Spot Monitoring

Safety always comes first when looking for a family vehicle. Blind spot monitoring is one of those features that every mom would love to have when purchasing a vehicle from Axio Automotive. You can never be so sure when quickly switching lanes, so it’s best to have this feature to prevent vision or judgment errors.

7. 360-Degree Camera System

Navigating busy parking lots, especially at schools or malls, can be tough. Fortunately, a 360-degree camera gives moms a full outer view of their vehicle, making it easier and safer for them to back out, fit into tight spaces, and maintain a safe distance from pedestrians or cyclists.

Bonus Tip: For added peace of mind on every drive, consider protecting your vehicle with Club4x4 insurance, ensuring you are covered during school runs, weekend adventures, and unexpected bumps along the way.

Conclusion

Upgrading to a family-friendly car is a must when you become a first-time mother. You may want more space and safety features, but what exactly do you look for? Some ideal features for a mom car range from safety-first blindspot monitoring and a 360-degree camera to convenient keyless entry and a large center console. Soon, you will be rolling in a car fit for the whole family!

Keyless entry is a lifesaver when you’re carrying shopping bags (and kids!) and I love the sound of blind spot monitoring, that sounds so useful.
