Is the MySims Cozy Bundle Worth Playing?

Updated on July 22nd, 2026

I bought the MySims Cozy Bundle on Nintendo Switch, and I have played a bit of both games. In this post, I want to share my thoughts on the games and whether the MySims Cozy Bundle is worth playing.

What is the MySims Cozy Bundle?

The MySims Cozy Bundle is $39.99 and includes retro rereleases of MySims and MySims Kingdom, which first released in 2007 and 2008. There is no new content added to the games, and only the graphics are updated. The MySims Cozy Bundle released in November 2024 for Nintendo Switch. In March 2025, the bundle released on PC for the EA app, Steam, and Epic Games. The games cannot be purchased separately, and they are only available together in the bundle. I have not played the original MySims or MySims Kingdom. Therefore, my thoughts on the bundle will solely be based on my experience playing them now as an adult.

MySims

MySims Overview

In MySims, you move to a struggling town, and Mayor Rosalyn asks you to rebuild the town. You then invite characters who visit the hotel to move to the town. From there, you build their home or business and complete quests for them by crafting furniture and objects in your workshop. To customize the objects, will need to collect essences from trees, fishing, and prospecting. You then use these essences to paint the furniture you build. As you progress in the game, you unlock more areas of the town.

MySims Review

MySims is fun at first because you can invite any characters who are staying at the hotel to move to the town. You also have control over what the homes and businesses look like. However, over time, the gameplay becomes repetitive. The daily routine is basically the same. You visit the hotel, talk to the characters there, invite them to stay in town, and build their home or business. Next, you go around and see if any characters in town have quests for you. You need to collect the required essences and craft and customize furniture for the character. Then, you place the furniture in their home or business and complete the quest. You can interact with various objects around town and talk to characters, but there is not much else to do in the game.

I do like building the homes and businesses. You have a lot of freedom to pick the blocks and the colors you want to use. You only have a few required items you have to use, like a door for a home or a sign for a business. Other than that, you are free to make the building look how you want. However, you do have a limited number of options, though, so building is not in-depth like in The Sims.

Building the library in MySims

Crafting furniture and objects can be tedious at times because you have a blueprint where you have to place blocks in specific areas. The blocks to use are highlighted to make the process easier, but when you are completing quests, it can require 10 of one essence and 10 of another essence to complete. Therefore, you have to use smaller blocks or add onto the build to be able to customize the object with all 20 essences.

For collecting essences, the process can also be tedious. Quests will require a specific number of essences. It is easy enough to collect essences that are grown on trees. However, for fishing, you have to move the bobber over bubbling areas to catch a fish. You can catch a bunch of fish you do not need until you finally catch all the fish you need for the quest.

Fishing in MySims

With prospecting, you use a metal detector-like object. The ring will be green when you are further away, and as you get closer, the ring turns from yellow to red, and the sound will also be quicker. When you are in the right spot, you can dig for the essences. Different areas of town do give different essences when prospecting, but like with fishing, you can end up with a bunch of essences you do not need until you have enough to complete the quest.

MySims Kingdom

MySims Kingdom Overview

In MySims Kingdom, you are tasked with helping King Roland revitalize the kingdom. You visit different islands of the kingdom and help citizens in need. On each island, you will have to build certain locations, similar to building homes and businesses in MySims, and you will also have to use mechanical objects to build contraptions. Also, in MySims Kingdom, you will have to complete scrolls to unlock objects to build, and you need to collect essences from trees, fishing, prospecting, and mining to complete the scrolls.

MySims Kingdom Review

MySims Kingdom is more quest-based than MySims, which I like because the gameplay does not feel repetitive. When you visit an area of the kingdom, you have a variety of quests to complete. For example, the first island I visited was Renée’s Nature Preserve. The first quest is to build a visitor’s center, and the building method is the same as MySims, where you have some required blocks to use, but you have the freedom to make it look how you want and paint it.

Then, there is a quest to build a mechanical contraption to connect the windmill to run the mechanical bull. Also, you have to build bridges and a tower for a cat. In order to place objects, you need to collect essences to unlock the scroll, and then you need mana. Each object requires a specific number of mana to place. You do get mana when collecting essences. You can also trade with Lyndsay if you have extra of any essences and get mana that way.

Collecting essences for the scrolls can be tedious, like in MySims. Essences from trees are easy to collect. However, fishing is a different mini-game than in MySims. In MySims Kingdom, you have to move the bobber around until it hops a bit. At that point, you need to stop moving the bobber and wait until it goes under the water. I found the fishing more difficult than in MySims because you can easily move the bobber past the area you need to be and then have to find the next location of the fish.

Prospecting is the same as in MySims, where you start out with a green ring, and as you get closer, the ring turns red, at which point you can dig. Mining is basically the same as prospecting, except instead of on the ground, you use a pickaxe on a rock wall. You click and move along the wall until you are in the red area, then you can continuously mine the spot for essences.

With all that said, I did find myself enjoying MySims Kingdom more than MySims. I liked all the quests in MySims Kingdom, while MySims ended up feeling repetitive. MySims would be better if you are more interested in building and crafting objects, while MySims Kingdom is better if you want more of a story.

Should You Play the MySims Cozy Bundle?

The MySims Cozy Bundle is for you if you like:

  • Quest-based games
  • Simpler building and crafting mechanics
  • Both MySims and MySims Kingdom
  • To experience nostalgia if you played the games as a kid

The MySims Cozy Bundle is not for you if you want:

  • A life-sim like The Sims, where you take care of your sim’s needs
  • Total freedom in building anything you want
  • To buy only one of the games
  • New content in the games

Have you played MySims or MySims Kingdom? Would you want to play the MySims Cozy Bundle?

I was not familiar with this game, but I played Sims a lot (more than I should have, really). I can see the appeal to this one too.

I’ve heard MySims, but I haven’t played any of the games until now. It is quite different from The Sims though since MySims is more quest based and you don’t have needs to take care of

Do you know, I’ve never played the Sims at all! Quest-based games are always fun though I think 🙂

I like the idea of building a town, but can see how after a while things can get a bit repetitive. It does seem to have a really nice vibe though, so I may have to look into trying this out.

Yes MySims does become repetitive after some time, but I LOVE MySims Kingdom because each island has different tasks so you’re not going the same thing over and over again.
