Guest Post | Summer is imminent, and homeowners across the country are looking at revitalizing their properties for the season. Many interesting trends have emerged this year, each of which is worth considering. Mono-textural rooms, understated luxury, and vintage lighting are all helping to shape the interior design landscape. Of course, your design choices are informed by your tastes and longstanding traditions. Of the latter, there are few more influential than the ancient Chinese practice of Feng Shui. Let us consider how you might incorporate the principles of Feng Shui into various parts of your home.
Updating your home office
Your office space should be geared toward productivity. Anything that you can do to improve your focus and eliminate distraction is probably going to be worth doing.
Look for an ergonomic chair that promotes good posture and keeps you comfortable throughout the day. According to Michael Jones’ guide, the office chair should face your door without being directly in line with it.
Another important thing to consider is natural light, which will keep you alert in the morning, and ensure that you do not slip into a bunker mentality. Large windows and skylights are ideal. Artificial lighting should come from multiple sources at multiple levels to fill the space. You can source lighting, along with the right power tools, from reputable companies like RS USA.
Your color choices should be neutral and non-confrontational. Muted pastel shades of blue and yellow tend to work well.

Connecting your main rooms
The main rooms of your home should ideally flow into one another. You might do this using an open-plan layout, or you might ensure cohesion between different rooms through the use of a single unifying color or visual motif.
Incorporating the right storage solutions will help you to more easily stay on top of clutter, and keep every space feeling open and breezy. Above all, every room should have a sense of balance, and so too should the home as a whole. You can achieve balance with the help of a Bagua map, which is a way of dividing the property into distinct zones, each devoted to a particular purpose.
Spruce up the Bathrooms
According to Feng Shui, the energy levels in your bathroom are lower than anywhere else in the home. This is largely because sanitation technology was not up to modern standards when these principles were first being developed.
Traditionally, bathrooms should be positioned away from kitchens and bedrooms. Within the room, you can improve the flow of chi by placing a few key mirrors in the right locations. Decluttering the space, and periodically cleaning it, will help with this, too.

You’re welcome and I agree natural lighting is a must!
I have never used feng shui but have read about it over the years and I really like its principles and ideas. I like to have a natural flow in each room so I could quite easily adapt to using feng shui in my apartment. I will have to plan this out, but I will try some of these!
I agree it’s nice to have a natural flow between rooms
