It has officially been 2 years since I took the plunge to self-host my blog with Lyrical Host, and I wanted to do a short Q&A about my experience with them.
This post contains affiliate links, which means I may earn a commission if you make a purchase through my links, but there is no extra cost to you.
How did you originally hear about Lyrical Host and what drew you to sign up?
I originally heard about Lyrical Host from other bloggers on Twitter/X. Based on their experience, Lyrical Host seemed like a great host to go with for those who want to self-host their blog. After researching different web hosts, Lyrical Host seemed the best choice for bloggers.
What are the most important things to look for in a web host?
One of the most important things is price. Some web hosts, like Bluehost and SiteGround, have a huge discount for the first year of hosting. However, after the first year, they up their prices and then try to upsell their features, including daily backups, SSL certificates, and site security. However, Lyrical Host is upfront about their price, and they are never going to increase their price when you renew your plan. Furthermore, they do daily backups and malware cleaning as well as include SSL certificates for free.
Another important thing to look for in a host is support. It is important for a web host to have good customer support and be able to quickly help you if you have an issue with your blog. When everyone had to set up Google Analytics 4 (GA4), I was able to get help setting up GA4 from Lyrical Host. Some other hosts do not even want to help with small tasks like that, and getting help with your blog can be a chore.
What are the advantages of hosting with a smaller company?
One big advantage of hosting with a smaller company is that you are seen as a person and not as a dollar sign. You receive individualized support and not some generic response. I am also in the Lyrical Host Facebook group, and it does make me feel like I am part of a community.
How does the support work?
If you need help setting up anything on your blog or you come across an issue, you can open a support ticket on the Lyrical Host website, and one of their support staff will promptly get back to you. You can also reach out in their Facebook group if you have a general question. Otherwise, you may be asked to open a support ticket for help.
What is something that surprised you about your experience?
I was surprised by how easy the transition from WordPress.com to WordPress.org was. I was hesitant about going self-hosted because it did seem like some big chore, but it was not. Lyrical Host did all the technical stuff when it came to the migration, and they even offer free migrations!
What is something that Lyrical Host does that is different from other companies?
As I mentioned earlier, Lyrical Host is upfront about their prices, and they do not upsell extra features because they are all included in the price. They also have fantastic support, and they are perfect for bloggers because they have a blogging Resource Library they add to each month, as well as share monthly stock photos you can use on your blog and other platforms. On the anniversary of you signing up for Lyrical Host, they have an anniversatree where they plant trees through Trees For The Future. On my first anniversatree, they planted 5 trees, and this year, they will plant 10 trees. They also support other great causes, including Kurandza and Reef Check.

If you would like to check out Lyrical Host for yourself, you can use the code TALES10 to save 10% on any of their plans.

Thanks for sharing, I have thought about using Lyrical Host if I move over to self-hosting, but it’s the cost that I would have to look into, as my budget is pretty tight 🙂
You’re welcome! Yes self-hosting is more costly, but it is worth looking into if it fits into your budget. I do like Lyrical Host because everything is included in the price whereas with other hosts like Bluehost, you have to pay extra for daily backups, an SSL certificate, site security, and more.
I have heard Lyrical Host recommended a lot. This was a really helpful Q & A to read about self-hosting and using Lyrical Host. Thank you for sharing.

You’re welcome! It has been a great experience hosting with Lyrical Host!
I’ve been looking to possibly migrate some of my sites to self-hosting, and so this is very helpful. I hate hidden fees, so I appreciate straightforward pricing very, very much.
That’s exciting you’re looking into self-hosting! I would definitely say avoid Bluehost because their prices increase every year, and they charge for an SLL certificate and daily backups after the first year!!
You’re welcome!
Great post and really informative for anyone looking to go with Lyrical Host. I’ve heard good things about them x
Thank you! They’re a fantastic host to go with for anyone wanting to self-host their blog!
Lyrical Host sounds like a great service! Unfortunately they are a bit too pricey for me but if I ever decide to go with another host I will definitely consider them.
Lyrical Host is amazing! I completely understand about the price.
This is amazing, didn’t know about this type of host. And it sounds nice hosting. If I will get a new blog, I will try this one. Thank you for sharing!
Lyrical Host is unlike other hosts because they don’t increase their prices when you renew a plan, and their customer support is amazing! You’re welcome!
Thank you for sharing such an informative post! When I first started blogging, many bloggers recommended Bluehost. Their prices kept getting higher and higher each year and their service lacked too. I’ll definitely keep Lyrical Host in mind for the future. Thanks for sharing!
You’re welcome! I know many bloggers recommend Bluehost because they have a good affiliate program, and the price for the first year of hosting is tempting, but the price increases are definitely not okay!
Lyrical Host on the otherhand never increases the price when you renew your plan and their customer support is fantastic!
A really good Q&A about Lyrical Host, if/when I decide to migrate over to WordPress, I’ll definitely do it through Lyrical Host! x

You’re on Blogger right? Lyrical Host does migrations from Blogger so all your content will be transfered if you do decide to go self-hosted!
Interesting post thanks! I’m currently blogging with Wix but if I decide to change to a self hosted I will certainly give lyrical host a look!
No problem! I haven’t used Wix before, but I do hope it’s working out for you! If you do go self-hosted, Lyrical Host is amazing!
Lyrical Host sounds good. Glad they provided you good service to keep up the good work.
They’re fantastic!
I was with Lyrical Host for a while with my other blog (which I’ve now closed). I did really love them and all the resources they gave were very useful! It was just a little bit too expensive for me to justify.
That’s great you did enjoy being with them, and their resouces are fantastic! Yea that’s understandable
Lyrical Host sounds like a great option! We learned the hard way about Bluehost and their raising of the fees substantially. We ended up going with another hosting service after our first year because of that. It sounds like Lyrical Host has fantastic customer service, which is a huge thing I look for.
I’m sorry you unfortunately hosted Bluehost. They do seem like a good host at first, but raising the fees substantially is wrong!
Lyrical Host is fantastic, and their customer support is the best.
