With the season changing and the weather getting colder, I am excited to introduce my next guest post from Isa over at Lifestyle Prism. She will share all about the different pieces, fabrics, and colors to incorporate into your Fall wardrobe.
Fall, a meteorological season, a mid-season, is associated with many factors. Be it the bloom or sporting, it is a transition to choices as transient as the weather itself. You might be wondering what I’m on about. Definitely not sporting today, but it is the transition of what to wear. Time to unpack your clothes with an emphasis on “some and few”. If you’re short on any clothes, you can hit the stores or online. Later in the post, I’ll tell you why I chose this route. AND, don’t worry if you know “ME”, I won’t burn a hole in your pocket. Well, at least not without warning. And those who are reading me for the first time, I hope you enjoy reading my post. Also, I will not share every trend out there, but those I personally like. And for other trends that might not suit me, I will only mention them if they are nice as a whole as they could suit you. Also, this post is not just about Fall fashion trends, but a journey to a Fall wardrobe. So let’s get on with a practical and simple guide for a head-to-toe fall wardrobe.
Fall Outfits
Fall Bottoms:
The close of 2021 and leading to 2022 is going to be a resurgence of the early 2000s fashion trends. Take out your boot flares, low-rise pants, and oversized baggy pants. I’m sure you have some in your closet. You can wear oversized baggies comfortably in Fall without worrying about the chilly winds seeping into your bones.
See if you’ve got coated pants or leather pants. This is one material that you can always rely on in mid-seasons, Fall in this case. You can’t wear it in peak winters. Well, unless you have many layers on. Don’t forget your leggings! Go beyond and get silk leggings and printed leggings. Wear them with sweater dresses, midi skirts, or even miniskirts. This trend began with Chanel. May I say that I didn’t quite like it with miniskirts, but you can decide for yourself.

Fall Fabrics:
Fall fabrics are leather, jersey, velvet, suede, silk, and denim. Period! Cotton is your friend the whole year. Mixed plastic materials such as nylon and polyester are not my topic of discussion today, but if you are still interested, consider acrylic over the two, which is a better alternative in every way.
Fall Tops:
Think about these fabrics for your tops game, from Fall shirts to Fall outerwear. See what you already have.
Denim is trending! Wear a denim shirt or a denim jacket. Trust me you can ace a denim head-to-toe look. Look for any thin knits and jerseys you have. A knit sweater top, a jersey top, and crop sweaters are all easy ways to layer during Fall.
Coordinate your pieces. This is the time when you can consider vests. Yes, that’s another item trending. Pull out your vests for slacker tailored suits to Fall dresses. Wear a white full-sleeved blouse, put on the sweater vest, and pair it with a midi skirt and boots, a perfect go-to outfit.
Want to go chic? Up your outdoor game with halter tops, unexpected cutouts, and ribbed detailing.
Are you the experimental type? Go artsy and try digital and geometric prints even in outerwear if you want. Printed jackets are the current trend. But don’t overdo prints and wear only one print separately. Too many prints might not look nice. I mentioned prints because you can still show off colors and prints in Fall before you transition to winter.
Always keep a basic white tee and button-down blouse ready. These are the Fall essentials you need so you can easily layer them when it gets cold. If it gets unpredictably chilly, you can easily get away with a light windcheater. Ditch black tees until winter. You will have plenty of time then to wear black. For now, we are focusing on any color we can easily wear.

Fall Colors:
Many people get confused about which colors to wear in Fall, or when the weather tricks you in general. So let’s talk a little technical here. How do you identify from nature if it’s Fall? The flora falls and turns pale. That’s right. Fall is Pale. So what colors can you wear?
The Pale Fall
Think pale! Every color turned pale in the palette. Notice here I am not talking rainy days and its colors, but only Fall. Fall colors are all in pale undertones. So if you see cool colors or pastels “in” the current fashion, then know that it only made it to the current trend. Ignore black since you’ll have plenty of time to wear that in winter. Looking at what is currently worn, look out for the clay palette: pale tangerine, rusts, and browns. As no leaf remains green, emphasize and fuse some army greens. Blue, whether trending or not, you will always see it in denim – all tones.
The one tricky color trend I would mention is silver. Unfortunately, I am not a fan of the silver color, but I know most do. Coordinated outfits with silver are not to be passed on. Definitely consider shiny to matte silvers for outdoors. Pair a silver top with brown leather pants, as seen on the runways, one of the looks I loved! It’s difficult to perceive, but know if you decide on this combo, try complementing different shades of silver to go with those of browns. I would say grayish silver with a pale tan. Or if not, wear a silver skirt and coordinate with a different color top and texture.
If you can’t decide between colors, then consider pale neutrals. Do the full look with different hues, or go monotone. Minimal color outfits always look effortless and chic, no matter where you want to wear them.

Fall Shoes:
You know what to do when your toes get cold. It is time to take out your stashed western boots and other boots from Chelsea boots to knee-high boots. Wear them with a lace blouse, pull over a sweater vest, a shacket, denim jacket, or a leather jacket. Or pair them up with a midi skirt or slip skirt. Boot up or go cozy with sneakers depending on your taste.
Don’t want to wear boots right after enjoying letting your feet breathe in the summer? Put on clogs. They are fashionable and remained trending the whole year, and would come winter 2022. Platforms and loafers are also in the current picture. For formal occasions, wear embellished heels. You have so many options to choose from. Ease in and out!
Fall Accessories:
Let’s see what works. The cool winds you were not familiar with, could make you under the weather. This is the best time to take out your scarves and wrap them around your neck. If you keep your neck warm, you stay warm. The bucket hat is the trend of late. But if you think you need more protection from cool winds, then wear your beanie instead.
I wouldn’t forget sunglasses. You need them throughout the year as I for sure do. It’s better to protect your eyes from any UV ray damage. What is currently trending or not is another thing. Technically, you need more opaque lenses in the summer, or when the sun rays are too bright and piercing. For Fall and winter, consider wearing translucent lenses of any hue of your choice. I prefer translucent sunglasses because they suit me better than opaque lenses.

The Verdict
There is one aspect to Fall I would like to bring to your attention. Mid seasons such as Spring and Fall could technically last for 1 to 3 months, but the feel is different. It would be hot during the days and chilly in the nights. It usually involves layering, but light.
Should you be investing a lot in shopping? I don’t think so. As we all know winter shopping costs a lot more than summer shopping because of the expensive fabrics and durability. If you love shopping, go ahead. If not, I would say just hit the store once and buy what you need as you would notice you’d be layering in no time. That’s all for now. I hope you enjoyed reading my post.

Thank you! Yes it’s good to have some pieces you can wear year round, but it’s nice having some clothes for each season too.
I like this although I do prefer to go with classic pieces that are timeless and can be worn for different seasons. Am I the only one?
I’m this sometimes too. Not too exploratory. 😬😊
It’s nice to have some classic pieces, but I do enjoy pulling out my sweaters & cardigans for the fall!
I like the shades and accessories, so cool to live in a country where there are different seasons.
Thank you. That part is cool indeed!!! 😊💖
I love fall fashion so much and always end up getting something nice. But I never buy a full new wardrobe, merely fill in the gaps and make a few tweaks here and there based on previous seasons looks.
Me too! I especially getting a new sweater. I never buy a full new wardrobe either

You’re welcome!
I love fall! I have some capsule wardrobes for the fall season! I personally like to wear wool fabrics (especially in a skirt) since it gets windy in my country but not cold enough to wear jackets.
Michell
A wool skirt sounds nice! Here it gets cold in the fall so a jacket is a must!
Such a great post and full of helpful tips! I love my boots and wear them all year around, because why not! Also happy that finally, denim on denim is back in vogue! x

Great post! I don’t have much variety in my wardrobe for each season, I tend to just add or remove leggings/tights and cardigans to and from dresses depending on the temperate!

Sunglasses are probably my all-time favorite accessory!

I love Fall! It’s my favourite season. I love that it’s cooler so you can bundle up, but not as cold and wet as winter. So interesting to hear about what it in fashion for this year.
