Benefits of Business Cards for Bloggers + What to Include

Updated on March 4th, 2022

AD – Sponsored and PR Product | I have been blogging for over 5 years now, but I never considered getting business cards for my blog until I was offered some by Aura Print. In this post, I want to share the benefits of business cards for bloggers as well as what to include and not include on your business cards.

Benefits of Business Cards for Bloggers

Easier to let others know about your blog

When you meet someone new and begin talking about what you do, it can be awkward pulling out your phone to show someone your blog or social media handle. I was talking to an artist from my Danish class, and I asked her if she had a website. She showed me her Instagram account on her phone and I followed her on my phone. I then told her about my blog and what I write about, but I did not have a business card at the time to give to her. I just have to hope that she found my blog through my Instagram. This situation was a bit awkward, and it could have been avoided if we had business cards to exchange.

Also, if you are for example at a blog conference and someone forgets their phone that day or it does not have any battery, they will most likely forget the URL for your blog or your account name by the time they get home. Business cards are great for letting others know about your blog and they can also refer to your business card at a later time.

Exposure to potential new audience

By having business cards, you can potentially gain a new reader or subscriber. If you sell things online that are unrelated to your blog, for example, I sell makeup on Depop, but you could sell clothing, jewelry, games, books, etc. on eBay, Facebook Marketplace, or elsewhere, you can add in a business card. This is an easy way to potentially gain a new audience member. Also, if you give your business cards to family and friends, they can then pass them on to people they know, which can help grow your audience.

Affordable and professional

I received my business cards from Aura Print, and you can buy 250 business cards for as low as £30, which includes them designing the card for you. If you already have a design, it will only cost £25. Buying business cards is not a huge expense and I believe they are worth the small investment. Furthermore, having business cards makes you and your blog more professional. If you are attending an event with brands and other bloggers, being able to give them your business card makes a good first impression plus as I mentioned earlier you can avoid having awkward interactions.

The recycled paper business cards I received from Aura Print. The front side of the business card is showing, which features my blog name Tales of Belle and cartoon images of makeup products.

As far as my experience with Aura Print, I chose Recycled Business Card Printing because I liked that the business cards were eco-friendly and made from 100% recycled paper. Also, even though the cards are made from recycled paper, the quality is still high. I then selected all the details including the shape, size, and printed color, and gave all the information I wanted to include, but I left all the design aspects up to the designer.

The designer then sent me a proof, and it looked great, but there were a few changes I wanted to make with the layout and sizing. The designer then made the changes and sent back the proof, which I then approved. This process only took several days before the business cards were sent off to be printed. Printing and shipping did take a bit longer because Aura Print is located in the UK and I am in Denmark, but before I knew it I had my own business cards!

What to Include on Your Business Card

In general, you want to include relatively static information that is unlikely to change in the near future. The information you should include is:

  • The name of your blog
  • The URL of your blog
  • A short description of what you blog about i.e. beauty, fashion, books, lifestyle, family, home, food, travel, etc.
  • Your social media handles such as Instagram, Twitter, Pinterest, Facebook, Linkedin or anywhere else that is relevant to your blog. As far as social media handles, you should include at most 3 accounts. You should not include every social media platform you are on as it will overcrowd the card and it will be overwhelming for those who receive your card.
  • Your contact information. I only included my email address, but if you are planning on working with brands in your country, a phone number might be good to include as well. I would not include your address as addresses are mainly for physical shops.
  • A logo or illustration that is representative of your blog. This is not 100% necessary, but it will make your business card more appealing. You could also include an image of yourself.
The backside of the business card from Aura Print that shows my blog name, niche, URL, email address, Twiter, and Instagram handles.

What Not to Include on Your Business Card

Along with things to include, there are also things you should not include on your business card. You should not include too much information such as a paragraph about your blog or all your social media accounts as you do not want to overcrowd the card. Also, too much information will make the text smaller and harder to read. You should also not include things that have the potential to change like prices for sponsored posts and advertising or your blog and social media statistics. Furthermore, you want to check for any incorrect information. Be sure to double-check the URL and contact information as you do not want people going to the wrong blog or not being able to reach you. If you include static and correct information, you can use your business cards for a long time.

Your business cards are so pretty, Karalee! I’ve always loved business cards and have often made them myself at home as I have a printer. I love the ease of just ordering them online and being able to customize them to your brand. I need to make myself new ones! Thanks for sharing x

Thank you so much! That’s great you have a printer & you’ve made some of your own before. It was so easy just telling them what I wanted & them designing, printing & sending the cards to me.

I love having business cards! They are so useful and having a couple in my purse has always paid off, especially when I met a contact for a newspaper a few years back.

Really love how your cars look, Karalee! I never actually thought about getting them until I saw a couple of posts on other blogs about them. Love your idea of adding them to your orders if you sell things online, such a great way to get new readers! x

This is such a great idea! The amount of times people have asked me what I do and the web address for my blog, when in reality, they aren’t going to remember when they get home. But if I had a business card, this would be so much easier. I’m seriously going to consider this! Thanks so much for sharing 🙂

Thank you! I completely agree & most people won’t remember a blog name or URL. It’s so much easier to give someone a business card that they can refer to later.
