What I’ve Been Doing While Home

Updated on November 26th, 2024

Since most of us are on lockdown, I wanted to share what I have been doing while at home.

My Master’s Program

As you may know, I am currently in my second year of my Child Studies master’s program. My master’s program is mainly online where I have readings and writing assignments to complete. My classes are still going on, and most of my time during the day has been dedicated to my classes. On Sunday, I finished my last class of my master’s program, and this week I have started working on my thesis. If you are a student or you are working from home, you can read Lifestyle Prism’s advice on how you can work productive at home.

Watching Netflix

In the evenings I have mainly been watching Netflix and playing video games. The other day I finished watching Tiger King, and I would highly recommend it because the show is CRAZY. Other shows and movies I have watched recently are The Witcher, Riverdale, I Am Not Okay With This, season 2 of Zumbo’s Just Desserts, and To All the Boys: P.S. I Still Love You. Season 4 of Nailed It! was just released, which I know I will be watching soon!

Playing Video Games

As I said above, I have also been playing video games. I previously mentioned that I played through Life is Strange 2 on PC and I started playing Animal Crossing: New Horizons on the Switch. I love both of those games! I have also been playing The Sims 4 and Planet Coaster on PC.

Blogging

When the lockdown first started, I stepped back from blogging for a couple of weeks because I was unsure if it was appropriate to continue blogging during this time. However, after having a conversation with others on Twitter, I decided to continue because blogging gives me something else to focus on as well as others who are reading my posts. I have recently published How To Spot Counterfeit Makeup and How I Did My Makeup in High School.

Online Shopping

With only essential stores open right now, I have been doing some shopping online for fun. I have bought some JSC makeup and clothing from Depop as sellers can still ship from their home and a JSC lipstick from House of Stars as they are still shipping as well.

Creating Crafts

My daughter is also home from kindergarten during this time, and one thing she likes doing is creating crafts. Last week we made a few Spring crafts where we made a bunny with her picture as the face, a chicken out of playdough, and she also created her own work of art with the materials we had. Yesterday she found a rock that she wants to paint with glitter.

The beach as seen through the trees of the forestGoing Outside

Even though we are self-isolating, we still go outside to get some fresh air and play. My daughter likes playing on the playground and with her football. We have also been to the forest twice now where we went for a walk. Even if you do not regularly go outside, I would recommend exercising at your home. You can look into getting a treadmill as there are many benefits of running on a treadmill.

Chores

They have to be done, and some of more enjoyable like cooking while others I detest like cleaning dishes (especially since we do not have a dishwasher). Others can be frustrating like last weekend when I went to the laundry room and while doing the laundry, there was an issue with the water and all three machines stopped mid-wash. All the clothes were soaked and obviously not clean, and on Tuesday when I went to the laundry room, it was a swimming pool, but the machines were working again, and I was able to finally clean our clothes! Anyways that is about everything I have been doing during this time.

This was such a great post. I did almost all except games. I don’t do that. I loved the forest pic and you going out to enjoy. Your masters programme is a wow you managed with everything. Again, thank you so much for linking my post to productivity I’m highly obliged. but Your insight on how to manage classes, studies, and learning languages with or without a parent duty is really something for people to gain from. It is fun! We just did awareness days/weeks/months for June & I think for July we’ll be doing summer-themed posts.

I just discovered your blog and idk why I didn’t stumble upon it sooner. I really like your blog! Idk how you manage to find time to blog while managing social media and your personal life! I actually quit social media to focus on school and I still don’t seem to have time to blog!
I too am in school right now and am working on obtaining a second undergraduate degree. I think it’s great that you know what you want to study in grad school. I didn’t know what I wanted to focus on, and my parents weren’t too pleased with my decision. Another thing we share in common is that we are both moms to daughters. I have one 3 year old. How many kids do you have?

      Aw thank you!
At times it has been challenging blogging & recently I had to take a break with everything going on especially since my daughter was home 24/7 during the lockdown. She’s my only child & she’s 4 years old.
      What are you studying?

        Hi Karalee!
I am also an only child. I understand the struggles of dealing with a child during lockdown. My daughter goes to a private daycare which I’m really grateful for. I’m currently studying for a degree in nursing. It’s taking me much longer than anticipated but I’m hoping to be finished school by the end of the year. Since returning to school, I haven’t been on social media because it wasn’t good for my mental health. I’m planning to return to social media eventually.

My daughter goes to kindergarten (it’s like daycare but children from age 3-until they start school) & I’m grateful for that too as it gives me time to work on my classes
Nursing?! Oh wow! Good luck with finishing school!
I’m reaching the point where I’ll need to take a social break too b/c I log onto Facebook, Twitter, Instagram & it’s constantly a new story of what’s going on in the US & it’s getting to be a bit too much for me. I’ve shared what I could, signed petitions, sent emails, but now I’ll need to take a step back

Seems like you’ve kept yourself quite busy! I’ve mostly been stressing out over university and procrastinating by playing elder scrolls online and scheduling blog posts x

Oh yes, we watched The Witcher too! My husband played the video game (I think that’s what it was!) and I didn’t really expect to like the show. I’m really surprised how much I got into it 🙂

Of course, you’re very welcome! Yeah, I think staying busy is one of the best things we can do right now. And I need to get around to finishing it! I really enjoyed the first episode, and I’ve heard nothing but good things about the rest! We’ve since watched a few more episodes of Nailed It, and I think it’s one of the best seasons yet! ☺

That’s so cute! It’s about experiential marketing in films and how important it is for a movie to become iconic and have an actual fandom.
