Do I Have That Book Challenge

Sibby over at Siobhan’s Novelties nominated me for the Do I Have That Book Challenge, and I thought it would be fun to do today!

The Books

#1 Do you have a book with deckled edges?

No. I think I had one at one point, but not anymore.

#2 Do you have a book with 3 or more people on the cover?

Best Fairy Tales by Hans Christian Anderson. Hans Christian Andersen is a Danish author known for his fairy tales including The Little Mermaid, The Snow Queen, The Princess and the Pea, The Ugly Duckling, and The Emperor’s New Clothes. Best Fairy Tales includes English translations of his fairy tales.

#3 Do you have a poetry book?

The Peculiar Life of a Lonely Postman by Denis Thériault. The story follows the lonely and quirky postman Bilodo as he snoops in people’s mail and witnesses a tragic accident. Technically The Peculiar Life of a Lonely Postman is not a poetry book, but the characters write haiku which are incorporated into the story. I now own Reflections on Healing by Rachel Oates, which is a poetry book I highly recommend.

#4 Do you have a book based on another fictional story?

Cinder by Marissa Meyer. The book is loosely based on Cinderella and follows the cyborg Cinder whose life becomes intertwined Prince Kai.

#5 Do you have a book with a title 10 letters long?

Dark Places by Gillian Flynn is 10 letters. The book follows Libby whose mother and sisters were murdered by a satanic cult. Libby testified that her 15-year-old brother was the killer. However, 25 years later, a club obsessed with crimes locates Libby and asks her for details. Libby decides to reconnect with the people from that night, but she soon finds herself on the run from a killer.

#6 Do you have a book with a title that starts and ends with the same letter?

Seven Suspects by Renee James. I had to look in my Kindle library to find one, but I did! The book is about Bobbi, a successful businesswoman. She has made many enemies and one of them is stalking her. Bobbi makes a list of 6 suspects and confronts them, but the 7th suspect keeps haunting her.

#7 Do you have a Mass Market Paperback book?

And Then There Were None by Agatha Christie. I did not know what a mass-market paperback was, but I looked it up and this book fits the dimensions of those books. And Then There Were None follows 10 guests who are invited to a private island for the weekend, but each one has been marked for murder.

#8 Do you have a book written by an author using a pen name?

The Cuckoo’s Calling by Robert Galbraith is actually written by J. K. Rowling. The book follows a private investigator who is tasked with investigating the death of a supermodel.

#9 Do you have a book with a character’s name in the title?

A Man Called Ove by Fredrik Backman. This book is about a grumpy man named Ove who is struggling after the passing of his wife. A young family then moves in next door.

#10 Do you have a book with 2 or more maps in it?

Hokkaido Highway Blues by Will Ferguson includes maps of Japan. In the book, Will Ferguson shares his experience of hitchhiking the length of Japan to follow the cherry blossom’s progress.

#11 Do you have a book that was turned into a TV show?

As far as I know, I do not, but I recently read Thirteen Reasons Why by Jay Asher and The Haunting of Hill House by Shirley Jackson which I borrowed through Libby. Both have been turned into TV shows with the same name.

#12 Do you have a book written by someone who is originally famous for something else? (celebrity/athlete/politician/tv personality…)

Happy by Fearne Cotton. She is known for being a broadcaster in the UK and is now an author. The book helps you discover ways of finding joy every day.

#13 Do you have a book with a clock on the cover?

I have checked all my books and my Kindle library, but I do not.

#14 Do you have a book with an award stamp on it?

All the Light We Cannot See by Anthony Doerr. It has a Pulitzer Prize award stamp on it. The book follows a blind French girl and a German boy whose paths collide during World War II.

#15 Do you have a book written by an author with the same initials as you?

Pretty Girls by Karin Slaughter. I was surprised I actually found a book. The book is about Claire whose sister Julia went missing 20 years earlier. Now another girl disappeared and Claire believes Julia’s disappearance is linked.

#16 Do you have a book of short stories?

Tales of the Peculiar by Ransom Riggs. It has short stories about the history of the peculiar, which is connected to the Miss Peregrine’s Peculiar Children series..

#17 Do you have a book that is between 500-510 pages long?

No, I do not. The closest I found was around 475 pages and 525 pages.

#18 Do you have a book that was turned into a movie?

Room by Emma Donoghue. I bought this book during a book sale at a church in Copenhagen, and it was turned into a movie with the same name. The book follows a mother and her five-year-old son Jack who have been held captive for seven years, and she devises a plan to escape.

#19 Do you have a graphic novel?

Fables by Bill Willingham. I love the Fables series and The Wolf Among Us video game, which is based on the series.

#20 Do you have a book written by 2 or more authors?

Desserter Sund & slank året rundt by Inge Kauffeldt and Helle Kleist. It is a Danish cookbook with healthy desserts for each season.

I had 15.5/20 of the books for this challenge! I am not going to nominate anyone, but if you are a book lover I would definitely recommend trying this challenge!
