I have been lucky enough to visit several countries, including Mexico, Canada, Australia, Sweden, and Germany, but there have always been places I wanted to see. These are the top 10 places I want to visit.
#1 Japan
For the longest time, I have been wanting to visit Japan. In high school, I started learning Japanese on my own, and I even have a tattoo of the kanji for love with cherry blossoms on my shoulder. I want to be able to visit the big cities like Tokyo, Kyoto, and Nara, as well as several islands, including Ōkunoshima (Rabbit Island) and Tashirojima (Cat Island). I would also love to see Mount Fuji, Matsumoto Castle, and Buddhist temples. Japan is also a great choice for finding the best solo travel deals, with efficient transportation, safe cities, and plenty of affordable accommodations tailored for travelers.
#2 France
After Japan, France is the next country I want to visit. I have taken 3 years of French classes in high school and a year of French in college, where I had class every day for 6 hours a week. I think I can still understand some French, and I would love to visit Paris, the Palace of Versailles, Marseille, and Mont Saint-Michel.
It would also make sense to visit Spain and Madrid at this point in your trip. It is convenient and will be well worth your time. You can even use lockers Atocha to store your belongings as you explore the area. This way, all your valuables will be kept safe, and you do not have to worry about lugging them around with you. They will be ready for retrieval as soon as you can check in at your hotel, or if you need them again on your way out of town.
#3 Bornholm
Bornholm is a Danish island that is known for its round churches. I want to visit the island to see the churches, castle ruins, museums, and beaches.
#4 Norway
Since moving to Denmark, I have been wanting to visit the bordering countries. I have been to both Sweden and Germany, and now I want to visit Norway. I mainly want to visit Oslo and Bergen.
#5 Germany
As I have mentioned, I have been to Germany, but I have only been to Berlin. I would also like to visit Munich and Neuschwanstein Castle.
#6 Greece
In college, I took a course in classical mythology that mainly focused on Greek and Roman mythology. I think it would be amazing to visit the ancient ruins in Athens and Rhodes, as well as go to Santorini. Greece is also on Rebecca’s 5 Dream Destinations list because she loves Greek history too.
#7 Italy
For the Roman mythology side, I want to visit Rome, as well as Venice and Sicily.
#8 The Netherlands
Another European country I would like to visit is the Netherlands. I mainly want to visit Amsterdam, The Hague, and Arnhem.
#9 England
I have only been to Heathrow Airport when I have been flying back and forth from Denmark and the US, so I would love to visit London. I would also love to visit Brighton, Bath, and Cornwall.
#10 Czech Republic
My great-grandmother was born in the Czech Republic, so I think it would be fun to see where she grew up. I would also want to visit Prague, which is the setting of Nancy Drew: Mystery of the Seven Keys!
I haven’t been to all the places on your list, but having been based in the UK all my life several are on my doorstep (in terms of air travel) so I’ve been to a few and I can safely say you will LOVE them when you manage to get there! Santorini in beautiful, Rome is so educational and Amsterdam has so much to do 😁.
I’m from the US so I didn’t travel outside of the US much, but now that I live in Denmark I hope I can travel to a lot of places in Europe! It’s great to hear you loved Santorini, Rome & Amsterdam 😄
If I could do one thing for the rest of my life, traveling would be that thing! I went to Prague. You will absolutely love it there! If your looking for places to go, I posted a post called ” A Day In Prague.”

When you go to Italy, I suggest you visit some of their small towns, such as Bergamo or Orvieto, they are so charming and beautiful beyond words.

I really want to visit Barbados & Netherlands too, thanks for sharing where you want to visit. Also Italy seems like a really cool place to visit – I have only visited once but I was quite young and don’t really remember it.
Barbados seems like a fun place to visit! 😄 It’s a shame you don’t remember much from when you went to Italy, so hopefully you’ll be able to visit again!

If you get a chance to go to the Netherlands, I’d like to promote both Leiden (to which I just moved) and Utrecht. They both have old city centers, and are very pretty, and very much less touristy than Amsterdam (not that Amsterdam is not worth a visit, just be warned!) 🙂

I imagine Amsterdam is like Copenhagen. It’s fun to visit, but there’s so many people & I wouldn’t ever want to live there!
