BECCA Review

Updated on October 3rd, 2021

Back in March I received 4 BECCA products (a primer, highlighter, corrector, and a brush) from a giveaway held by Sephora Scandinavia. After trying out the products, I wanted to share my opinions on them.

First off I have not tried any of BECCA’s products before, but BECCA is cruelty-free, which is a huge plus.

BECCA Backlight Filter Face Primer: This primer is used to give the face a glow while providing a base for foundation. This primer applies easily and blends smoothly with a beautyblender or other makeup sponge. This primer feels lightweight on my skin, but it makes my face look really oily. I would not recommend using this primer alone if you have oily skin because it has a dewy finish. However, my face looks much better and less oily after I applied my matte foundation. This primer does give my face a subtle glow, and makeup also lasts all day. Even though this is a good primer, I do think it is a bit expensive, and I also think it would be better for those with dry or combination skin because of the dewy finish.

BECCA Shimmering Skin Perfector Pressed Highlighter in Champagne Pop: Champagne Pop is a gold shade with a shimmer finish. This highlighter has great pigment, and it applies smoothly with a brush (like the BECCA Brush). This highlighter also blends easily and gives my face a natural glow that lasts all day. However, this highlighter cracked shortly after receiving it, so I am disappointed that it is so fragile. I also think the price is expensive for a highlighter, but I love the glow it gave my face.

BECCA Under Eye Brightening Corrector: This cream corrector is a pale pink shade that is used to brighten dark circles. This corrector applies smoothly and blends easily with a beautyblender or other makeup sponge. This corrector feels lightweight on my skin, and after I applied my foundation and setting powder over it, this corrector helped brighten the dark circles under my eyes. This corrector also lasts all day without creasing. The only complaint I have is that this corrector is expensive, but I like that it actually brightens my dark circles.

BECCA The One Perfecting Brush: This brush can be used with liquid, cream, or powder makeup. This brush is really soft, but I found it a bit big to apply makeup to small areas of face. I have used this brush with various types of makeup to see how well it would work. When I used this brush with the BECCA Primer, the primer applied smoothly and evenly. I have also applied the Lancôme Teint Idole Ultra Wear Foundation with this brush and it was easy to apply the foundation, but it was difficult to apply the foundation evenly under my eyes. When I applied the NYX HD Photogenic Concealer to a few areas around my chin, the concealer applied okay, but this brush is not precise due to the size. When I used this brush with the BECCA Under Eye Corrector, it was difficult to apply the corrector to under my eyes because this brush is so big. When I used this brush with the BECCA Highlighter on my cheeks and nose, the highlighter applied smoothly and evenly. Based on the types of makeup I used with this brush, I would recommend using this brush with any type of product (cream, liquid, or powder) as long as the product does not need precision and is instead used to cover larger areas of the face. This brush also occasionally sheds a few hairs, but I have not had a problem of it over shedding. This brush is easy to clean and it is cleaned just like any other makeup brush with either a brush cleaner or baby shampoo. However, I do think the price is really expensive for a brush, but I like that it can be used with all different types of makeup.

& the highlighter also cracks easily so it’s not worth the money.
      Thank you!

Nice review! I love the Becca Under Eye Brightening Corrector, and I use their Aqua Luminous Perfecting Foundation and it is one of the best foundations that I have used. I will say that I tried Becca’s Ultimate Coverage Concealing Creme and was really disappointed. It is very hard to spread…so thick! It would be great I guess for areas not under the eyes but under the eyes, it is like putty. And you don’t want to be pulling that area of course since it is so thin. So I wasted $32 on it! But the Brightening Corrector does seem to do the job and you almost don’t need a concealer. I’d really like to try their BECCA X Chrissy Teigen Glow Face Palette, but I’m not sure that I want to spend $46 on it, especially since I have so many highlighters and bronzers already, lol!

The brush I got is nice, but it’s just so big! I’m glad you haven’t had a problem with cracking & I’m also glad I received the highlighter in a giveaway or I would have been so disappointed that I spent so much money on it!

Lol I bet I would of been disappointed too!, I have all the brushes I love them the only thing I don’t like that the handle start peeling off 😒…. but the bronzers, the blushes, the loose eyeshadows and the brow colors are great the stick makeup it’s a little heavy for my taste but the liquid highlighters are great too 😊 yes it’s a little expensive but it’s good quality, try ellis faas that’s my favorite base 🙂

Thank you! I wouldn’t recommend the primer for oily skin especially since it is rather expensive & there are much better primers suited for oily skin!

I would recommend spending your money on a different brand unless you really want a specific shade from Becca. My highlighter is cracked, but it doesn’t make it unusable so it’s really up to you if you want to buy a highlighter that breaks easily

For that price, probably not.. I could buy highlights with the same quality that won’t break for cheaper! Thank you for the advice! Now I know where to spend my money and where not to!

Becca is a good brand, but I’m in the same boat as you. $49 for a makeup brush?! I could buy a whole set of brushes for that money.
