I usually share a Valentine’s Day makeup look on my blog, and I thought it would be fun to do a makeup challenge this year. There are different variations of this challenge such as the 5 minute and 10 minute makeup challenge, but I want to try the variation I saw on NikkieTutorials‘ channel where she did a half-face makeup look in 60 minutes and the other half in 6 minutes. I will put my own spin on the challenge by doing my whole face for each time limit and using pink and red-toned makeup for Valentine’s Day.
Since I was inspired by Nikkie to do the challenge, I am going to use the NikkieTutorials x Beauty Bay Palette. There are some pretty pink and red shades that would work well for a Valentine’s Day look.
6 Minute Makeup Look
For the 6 minute look, I knew I would not have enough time to go all out and I made a plan beforehand of what kind of look I was going for. Before I began the timer, I had picked out the products that I knew I could use quickly and still have a full face of makeup. Once I picked out the products, I started the timer and began with the Urban Decay Eyeshadow Primer and the Fenty Beauty Primer. Since primer does take a little time to dry, I decided it would be good to prime my eyes and face at the same time. I then went in with my finger and used the Pride shade from the NikkieTutorials x Beauty Bay Palette all over my lid. I then used a brush and put Mikai in my crease and outer corner. After I was done applying the primers and eyeshadow, I had 4 minutes left and moved onto my face makeup. For my face, I figured it would take too long to use concealer and foundation, and I used the Tarte Tarteguard instead, which is a tinted moisturizer. I then set the tinted moisturizer with the Danessa Myricks Setting Powder, and by then I had 3 minutes left. From there I applied the Tarte Amazonian Clay Blush and blended it out, applied the Tarte Lights, Cameras, Lashes Mascara, and finally applied the NYX Butter Gloss. I had less than a minute left, and I touched up the eyeshadow and set my makeup with setting spray.
Overall, I think the makeup looks nice. There is definitely more I wish I could do such as spend more time on the eyeshadow and use a full-coverage foundation, but given that I only had 6 minutes, I think it turned out pretty well. Normally when I only have a few minutes to get ready, I use the NYX Powder Foundation and a gloss, so it was nice seeing what I could accomplish in 6 minutes.

60 Minute Makeup Look
Now for the 60 minute look! Like with the 6 minute look, I had an idea of the look I was wanting to do, and I picked out the products in advance. When I began the timer, I started with my eye look. I first applied the Urban Decay eyeshadow primer then I used the shade Mikai from the NikkieTutorials x Beauty Bay Palette in my crease then I cut my crease with concealer. I have never used concealer to cut my crease before, but since I had plenty of time, I wanted to try it out. I then used Pride all over my lid, a combination of Blend & Snap! and Slasher in the outer corner and Ivy in the inner corner. For my lower lash line, I used Ivy in the inner corner, Mikai in the middle, and Slasher in the outer corner. I then went in with eyeliner to define the crease more and add a little wing. By the time I was done with my eye look, I had around 40 minutes left. I then went onto my face makeup. I first used the Fenty Beauty Primer followed by the Tarte Creaseless Concealer and Tarte Face Tape Foundation. I then used the Danessa Myricks Setting Powder and the NYX Powder Foundation as I felt like the Face Tape Foundation was a little too light. Afterward, I used the Tarte Blush and since I normally do not use a bronzer but I still had plenty of time left, I decided to contour my cheeks, forehead, jawline, and nose with the Too Faced Bronzer and blended it out. I then applied a highlighter to my cheeks. Once I was finished with my face makeup, I had around 20 minutes left and I applied the Tarte Mascara and moved onto my lips. I first started with the NYX Soft Matte Metallic Lip Cream, but I did not read it was Metallic because I just saw the pink tube with Soft Cream on it, but the metallic made it too bright so I ended up removing it. I went through my liquid lipsticks to find another one I could use, and I decided on The Body Shop Matte Lip Liquid. I then topped it with the NYX Metallic Lip Cream, but I wanted more shine so I topped it with the NYX Lip Oil. I was not 100% happy with how it turned out, but I only had about 5 minutes left so I kept it. I then noticed a dot of mascara on my nose, so I cleaned it up and set my makeup with setting spray.
Overall, I am pretty happy with how the look turned out. I love the eye look, but I did struggle with the lipstick because I wanted a pink liquid lipstick and I thought the NYX Lip Cream would be great, but I did not realize it was metallic and brighter than the tube. However, I like that I was able to do everything I wanted and more with this look. I do not do cut crease eyeshadow nor contour, but since I had plenty of time, I did both.

If you would like to see my other Valentine’s Day makeup looks on my blog, they are:
- Valentine’s Date Night Makeup Look
- Pink Heart Valentine’s Day Makeup Look
- Valentine’s Day Makeup Look
What is your favorite look out of the two? Have you done any makeup challenges?
Great look! I still have to decide on my look. I love the Primer Potion but have tried it in Original. What’s the Fenty primer like? I haven’t used it or any products from Fenty yet. I have NYX Lip Cream in Madrid (deep red). Not tried it yet. Great challenge idea.

Thank you! I love the Primer Potion & Sin is nice since it has a shimmery base. The Fenty primer is lightweight & makes a good base, but I don’t really like the fragrance. I love the NYX Lip Creams! They don’t dry out my lips & they last most of the day.

I did try Sin, but only as a sample (it was really tiny and was a pack of 4 samples that came with my Naked 3 palette. I like it a lot. W7 eyeshadow primer is a good dupe.
I have had my palettes for some years and they are almost too beautiful to use. I have Naked Smoky, Naked Basics Naked 3 and my latest addition is Naked Honey. I have a dupe for Naked Heat by Ucanbe.
I used the most drying liquid lipstick I have the other day which is Revolution Lip Kit in Matte Echelon. It was a gift and the colour is nice but that’s great to hear about the NYX Lip Cream. I always prep my lips with a scrub then balm, but even so it’s drying and the pencil is not easy to sharpen.
I bought a set of liquid lipsticks from Primark (Cranberry) some time ago and they seem a good dupe for the Huda ones. Hope Valentine’s Day is as good as it can be.

Oh okay! That’s good to know the W7 primer was a good dupe!
I haven’t heard of Ucanbe before, but they look like an affordable brand.
Yes I do that too were I use a lip scrub then balm, but the NYX Lip Creams aren’t drying like regular liquid lipsticks
I really wish I could go to Primark (I live in Denmark) because I always hear about poeple finding good things
Same!

I actually really like both! If I HAD to pick one, it would be the 60 minute one! I find makeup very therapeutic and I like taking the time to apply it. If I was rushed, I would just skip makeup all together. I think makeup is art and art takes time ❤ Thanks for sharing x

Both looks are stunning, it’s hard to pick a fave! You wouldn’t think you did the first look in 6 minutes that’s for sure! This looks like such a fun challenge xx

I like both looks but of the two I’d probably go for the 6 minute one – partly for the speed and partly because I think it could be a good daytime look. However, the 60 minute one would definitely be a special occasion look for me 🙂

Thank you so much! I agree the 6 minute look would be nice for daytime & the 60 minute look would be great for special occasions!

This is a fun comparison. I love that you included a 6-minute look! While I will occasionally take time to go all out with my makeup, I’ve always been that person who is constantly on the go. While I will take a little extra time for something big like a wedding or a gala, I definitely tend to stick to a much quicker option more often than not.

Thank you! That’s perfectly fine you usually do quick makeup, but it is nice to go all out every now & then especially for special occasions!

What a fun challenge. Although at first glance, I thought this was a 6 minute versus 60 second challenge haha. Maybe you could try that next time! I love both looks – very pretty 🙂 x

This is a fun challenge! I usually have only 6 minutes to do my face so this got me inspired to try bolder shades in a hurry. I usually stick to nudes that are lovely but a bit bland, especially this time of the year when I am really pale and could use a pop of colour.

Thank you! You should definitely try doing some bolder looks because it is doable!
