Christmas Tags (15 Questions, Christmas 2020, and Blogmas 2020)

Merry Christmas Eve! I hope everyone has a wonderful Christmas, and for today I thought it would be fun to do several festive tags.

15 Questions of Christmas Tag

The first tag is the 15 Questions of Christmas Tag, and I was nominated by Anna-Alina. Thank you for nominating me!

Christmas tree. Real or fake? Is a Christmas tree a must-have for the winter holidays and creating a Christmas atmosphere or is it not necessary for you?

Fake! My parents always had an artificial tree, and I think it is more practical and can last many many years. For me, a Christmas tree is a must-have, but my apartment is too small for a tree. I do have a felt tree my daughter can decorate though.

Holiday drinks. Coca Cola, eggnog, or hot chocolate? Or maybe something different? What do you drink on Christmas?

I tried eggnog for the first time last year, and I really liked it! Eggnog is not available in Denmark, but I do want to try making it myself this year. I do not like Coca Cola, but hot chocolate is a classic winter drink, and my daughter loves it too so I will go with hot chocolate on Christmas!

What is your own Christmas tradition?

I recently published a Christmas Eve Traditions Guest Post on Jordanne’s blog where I wrote about my traditions, and after Christmas Eve dinner, everyone opens presents that evening instead of in the morning!

Snow or no snow? Is snow necessary for you to have a Christmas mood? Do you have snow in your town during the winter holidays?

I prefer snow, but growing up in Texas where it snowed and actually stayed once every 20 years, it is not necessary to have snow to be in a Christmas mood. Now that I live in Denmark, snow is more common, but last year it did not snow. It already snowed a little this year, but there is only a small chance of it snowing again for Christmas.

Do you like to stay home on Christmas or to travel during the winter holidays?

I would love to celebrate Christmas with my parents who have moved to Montana, but for the past 4 years, I have been celebrating Christmas with my boyfriend’s family.

Christmas fairy lights. Multicolor or warm white (yellow)?

I have both in my living room haha, but I think I prefer the yellow ones!

Your top 3 must-watch every Christmas?

Home Alone! It is a classic and every year they show the movies on tv here. Also, How the Grinch Stole Christmas/The Grinch and The Nightmare Before Christmas!

Ginger cookies or sugar cookies? Or are you not ”a cookie person”?

I love cookies, and a couple of years ago I made several different types of cookies and my favorite is snickerdoodle since I do not really like sugar cookies (the icing makes them too sweet) and ginger cookies are fine, but I would prefer snickerdoodle.

Do you prefer to watch Christmas movies or listen to Christmas music during the holidays?

I do both! When I am baking or cooking, I love listening to Christmas music, but when everyone is sitting in the living room, I like watching Christmas movies such as Home Alone on Christmas Eve!

Must-have meals for your festive dinner?

The main dish for Christmas Eve dinner here is duck, but I am vegetarian and instead, I like making my own main course. Last year I made mushroom wellington, and this year I found a vegetarian meatloaf that I will have. For side dishes, there are boiled potatoes, caramelized potatoes, and red cabbage, which are all delicious! For dessert, risalamande (rice pudding with cherry sauce) is always a must-have!

Do you wear ”ugly” sweaters, fancy dresses, or pajamas?

I usually wear fancier clothes for Christmas Eve dinner, but growing up me and my parents would wear our pajamas to unwrap presents on Christmas morning then change into nicer clothes when my family came over for Christmas lunch.

An angel or a star as the decoration for the top of your Christmas tree? What looks better and cozier?

My parents always had an angel at the top of our Christmas tree, but I think I would prefer to have a star.

Decorate early or decorate on December 23?

Decorate early but not too early! Since I am from the US, I always celebrated Thanksgiving, which was on the fourth Thursday of November. I would never decorate before Thanksgiving, and I still do not after moving to Denmark.

Do you celebrate New Year Eve?

Yes! My parents would get fireworks for New Year’s Eve, and last year I bought fireworks for myself for the first time! Last year I spent New Year’s Eve at my boyfriend’s mother’s house and we ate dinner, drank, watched the queen’s speech on tv, and set off fireworks!

What the best thing about Christmas?

Being with family!

The Questions

When do your decorations go up?

Who is the Scrooge in your family or friendship group?

I honestly do not think anyone in my family or friend group is a Scrooge.

If money were no object, how and where would you spend Christmas?

I would spend Christmas with my parents in the US. Plane tickets are so expensive, and I spent the last four Christmases with my boyfriend’s family here in Denmark.

What Christmas film do you HAVE to watch every festive season?

Home Alone! All the Home Alone movies are shown on tv here on the 24th, and I have to watch them!

Who do you find hardest to buy presents for?

My dad. I never know what to get him for Christmas, and I have to ask my mother for suggestions.

Would you rather buy lots of little presents for a hamper or buy one big/main present?

I would rather buy lots of little presents. I usually buy everyone 3-4 smaller presents, and I think it is more exciting to unwrap them.

What did you leave out for Santa when you were a child?

I honestly do not remember what I left out for Santa because I always had dogs growing up so if I left out cookies and milk, they would eat and drink it.

Where did you spend last Christmas?

I spent last Christmas with my boyfriend’s family. We went to his grandpa’s house for Christmas Eve dinner and spent the night.

Which Christmas song makes you cringe?

Grandma Got Run Over by a Reindeer. It is a terrible song haha

If you could be a character in a holiday movie, who would you be and why?

This is a hard question, but I think I would want to be Sally because I love The Nightmare Before Christmas!

Lise’s Questions:

Is there something you absolutely have to bake for Christmas?

Cookies! I love baking cookies around Christmas.

What is your favorite type of Christmas food?

I love the Christmas dinner I would have with my parents. Instead of turkey, I would have a vegetarian turkey with stuffing, mashed potatoes, gravy, sweet potatoes, and green bean casserole.

Zineb’s Questions

What is a song you need to listen to every year for Christmas?

There is so much good Christmas music, but I think I will go with Deck The Halls!

What is one thing you love about Christmas?

Besides being with my family, the decorations!

My Questions

What is your favorite Christmas dessert?

What is a Christmas tradition you have?

I am not going to tag anyone, but feel free to do any of these tags if you would like!

Blogmas Tag 2020

I saw this tag on Michelle’s blog Broke But Flawless, and I thought it would also be fun to do! The tag was created by Jupiter and Dann

Snowy Christmas or a Warm Christmas?

I definitely prefer a snowy Christmas, but it does not seem like there will be snow this Christmas in Denmark.

Favorite flavored hot chocolate?

I love peppermint hot chocolate, and it is even better if there are vegan marshmallows to go with it!

What is one Christmas tradition you love?

After Christmas Eve dinner, we will have risalamande, which is rice pudding with chopped almonds and a warm cherry sauce. A whole almond will be placed in the bowl of rice pudding and whoever finds the almond wins a small gift!

Do you do Elf on a Shelf, and if so, what’s your favorite prank?

I have never done Elf on a Shelf, but now that my daughter is 5-years-old, I think it might be fun to do next year.

What are you most excited for this December?

I am excited for Christmas Eve dinner!

What is your favorite Christmas Movie?

There are so many good Christmas movies, and I wrote about The 15 Best Christmas Movies & Series on Netflix. I think I will go with Home Alone and The Grinch because they are classics.

Cookies or Mince pie?

I have never had a mince pie because they are not a thing in the US nor Denmark, but I would love to try one so I will have to go with cookies!

What is your warmest wintertime memory?

Every other year, me and my parents would drive to Illinois to visit my dad’s side of the family for Christmas, and I loved seeing everyone during this time.

What is something you must have in the winter time?

I must have cozy pajamas, hot chocolate, fairy lights, and Christmas music and movies.

What is something you’d love to do in the snow?

I would love to build a snowman. I cannot remember building a full-size snowman before, so I would like to do that!

What are your plans for Christmas this year?

  1. This was a lot of fun to read. We share many similar opinions lol For example, while I also love multi-coloured lights, there’s something about that soft white that just looks magical to me. Also, I am ADDICTED to peppermint hot chocolate. That’s my go-to ‘holiday drink’!
