Astrophysics for People in a Hurry Book Review

Back during the summer I finished listening to the audiobook of Astrophysics for People in a Hurry by Neil deGrasse Tyson on Libby, and now I wanted to share my thoughts on it.

We are stardust brought to life, then empowered by the universe to figure itself out—and we have only just begun.

Astrophysics for people in a hurry audiobook screenshot from LibbyHave you ever wondered how do we fit within the universe and how does the universe fit within us? Well in Astrophysics for People in a Hurry, Neil deGrasse Tyson covers topics from the Big Bang to black holes, quarks to quantum mechanics, and the search for planets to the search life in the universe. While I was doing my undergrad, I took two astronomy classes for non-science majors including a life and death of stars class, so I was interested in listening to this audiobook on astrophysics.

Since I have previously taken astronomy classes, some of the information in the book was a refresher like when Neil deGrasse Tyson talked about black holes and dark matter, but the rest of the information was new to me. However, Neil deGrasse Tyson describes concepts in a way that makes them understandable and he avoids using complicated terminology so that non-science people like me can understand them. Neil deGrasse Tyson frequently uses metaphors, which helps with understanding more difficult concepts. He also uses humor throughout the book, which helps break up the more dense concepts. Like the title suggests, the book is short and for people in a hurry. The audiobook is only 4 hours long, and the book is easy to pick up and read or listen to whenever you have the time. Also, the book is narrated by Neil deGrasse Tyson himself, which was nice since you can tell he is passionate about his book. I recommend reading Astrophysics for People in a Hurry if you have interest in an astrophysics or you want to know what is out there in the universe.

Overall, Astrophysics for People in a Hurry is a great book for people who want to learn more about the universe in a fun and concise way.

Oh really? That’s cool! I knew pretty much from the start I wanted to study psychology, but I have always been fascinated by space
