The first month of the new year has come to an end and like always, I wanted to share my favorites from the past month plus a roundup of what I have been up to.
Entertainment
A Series of Unfortunate Events: The third season of A Series of Unfortunate Events was released on January 1st, and I finished watching all of the new episodes. The third season picks up where the second ends and covers the rest of the books from The Slippery Slope to The Penultimate Peril. Like with the previous seasons, I love the actors who play the Baudelaire children and Neil Patrick Harris who plays Count Olaf. The series ended well, and I doubt there will be another season since there are no more books, but Netflix could always continue the series in a new direction. If you watched the previous seasons, I would definitely recommend continuing the series, and if you have not seen any of the episodes I would recommend this series if you like dramas and black comedies.

To All The Boys I’ve Loved Before by Jenny Han: I recently finished reading this book, and I loved it. I first watched the movie on Netflix before I realized it was a book, but I am glad I read the book too. The book and movie follow Lara Jean who has written five love letters to the boys she has loved and kept them to herself. One day the letters are mysteriously mailed and her normal life begins to spiral out of control. I loved the plot and romance in this book, and I will write an in-depth review later this month. I definitely recommend this book if you like young adult romance novels.

Sweet but Psycho by Ava Max: I love this song! It is so catchy, and Ava has a lovely voice. The song also has a good meaning about the strength of women and how it is wrong women are told how to think, dress, and act.

Beauty
The Rituals of Happy Buddha Shower Scrub: My boyfriend gave me the Happy Buddha shower set along with this shower scrub from Rituals. The scrub has a wonderful orange and cedar wood scent, and it exfoliates and cleanses my skin without being too harsh. The scrub leaves my skin feeling soft and smelling nice.

Rate: 10/10Ariana Grande Moonlight Perfume: I received this perfume as well as the mini version as a Christmas gift, and I have been wearing it every day since then. The perfume has a fruity marshmallow scent with a hint of vanilla, and it lasts all day. If you like Ariana Grande’s Ari perfume, I definitely recommend trying her Moonlight perfume!

Roundup
The first of January was obviously New Year’s and on New Year’s Eve I went to my boyfriend’s mom’s apartment for dinner and drinks. We did not have any fireworks, but we had sparklers and other small things and there were plenty of fireworks to see outside. On the 2nd my daughter started back at kindergarten and I had a few days left of my break before I started back at my master’s program. I also received my gift from the Reddit Secret Santa exchange, and my Santa gave me a Pusheen sushi plate set, and it is so adorable (you can check it out here). I also dyed my hair back to black, and I made sushi for the first time (I used the Pusheen sushi plate set and you can see the sushi I made here). On the 7th I started back at my master’s program, and I officially finished the first semester! Last week I started the second semester which will include my first master’s thesis. The current class I am taking is on research methods, which will help me prepare for my thesis. Last Friday was my boyfriend’s mother’s birthday and we ate at Restaurant Flammen and even though they are known for their meat buffet, they had plenty of food for me as a vegetarian to eat. Then on Saturday my daughter went sledding for the first! She had so much fun! This weekend is my boyfriend’s dad’s birthday, and we are planning on going to the National Museum of Denmark in Copenhagen. It should be fun and I am planning on baking brownie cookies and matcha macarons for that day. Now for the posts I wrote this month!

I couldn’t get into A Series of Unfortunate Events sadly! Although I love the original film, with Jim Carey. I loved To All the Boys though! It’s so not my genre usually but I absolutely adored that movie!

I quite enjoyed To All the Boys I’ve Loved before too! I’m starting to get to the point where I’m realizing that I’m having trouble connecting with shows and movies that are based on high schoolers, but I didn’t have a problem with this one! It was a fun story and had some good comedic timing. I felt a little creepy being attracted to a “high school kid” though lol.. (I’m 25). I am also loving Sweet but Psycho! Something I am happy to put on repeat.

That’s great you liked the movie too! I’m 25 too & I feel you! If it makes you feel any better, most of the actors in high school movies & shows aren’t actually teens. Like the actor who plays Peter is 22!
Sweet but Psycho is a great song to have on repeat! π

Oh that’s exciting! What did you do your research on?
Ariana Grande has I think 5 scents now? The Ari & Moonlight scents are the best! I haven’t tried her newest Cloud perfume though.

So last semester was the research methods (learning how to analyze written articles and such), and this semester I am working on a project investigating central line blood stream infections in relation to bathing patients with daily chlorhexidine gluconate! (that probably elicited a yawn, haha).
definitely have to keep an eye out for that perfume!

I see! I’m taking the research methods course now & we had to do a mock interview, learn about the 5 different analyses & write a research plan. Next week I’m going to Sweden to have a seminar about the research plans & I’ll meet w/ my thesis advisor & we’ll talk about what changes I need to make to my plan.
Your project sounds interesting even though I don’t know what half of it means ha π
I’m planning on examining how children with learning disorders are potrayed in childrenβs books
