I finished listening to the audiobook of Simon vs the Homo Sapiens Agenda by Becky Albertalli last week, and I wanted to share my thoughts on it.

Like with The Handmaid’s Tale, I have not seen the movie Love, Simon so the review will be based solely on the book. Simon vs the Homo Sapiens Agenda is about a high school junior named Simon who is gay, but he has not come out to his friends and family. While browsing tumblr, Simon finds an anonymous post by another junior who is also gay and has not come out either, and they begin emailing each other using pseudonyms.
Every other chapter of the story is emails between them, which adds an extra layer to the story. The emails were also easy to follow while listening to the book, and I did not figure out who Simon was emailing until the end. From there the story focuses on all the drama that happens at his high school including blackmail as well as the friendships and relationships that form.
However, when I was first getting into the book, I felt like there were too many characters to keep track of, and listening to the book made it even more difficult to keep track. I eventually got the hang of who was who, but all the characters from the get-go was a little overwhelming. However, that was the only problem I had with the book.
Simon was a lovable character because he was caring and funny, but he does make some mistakes. The plot was also entertaining and I have not read any coming-out books before so it was interesting to see that side of things. I loved the ending because it was such a feel-good happy ending and all of the problems that popped up during the book were resolved by the end. After finishing the book I am looking to watching the movie!
Overall, I would recommend reading Simon vs the Homo Sapiens Agenda by Becky Albertalli if you want to read a coming-out book with added bits of mystery, drama, and romance.

I have started blogging recently. Would appreciate if you visit my website.
I love audio books b/c you can listen to them anywhere & they also make housework more bearable. The narrators are also great & some authors even read their own books.
I currently use Mofibo but it’s a Danish company. I recommend Audible b/c you can get a 1 month free trial & a free book.
Thanks a lot
I’m reading this now! I’m enjoying it so much, glad you liked it
I’m glad you’re enjoying the book! You should love the ending! 😄
Awesome! I have this book, but I have not read passed chapter 2
Oh really? Did you not like it?
Yes, so far so good. It’s interesting how the author takes you from Africa to Asia on the evolution of humanity.
I think you have a different book than the one I reviewed, but it sounds interesting ☺
I’m looking for new books to read and I’ll check this out! M
I’m sure you’ll like it 😊
After speaking to you the ofher day I wanted to read this book and now reading this review I definitely want to! Sounds so good, will give it a go x
It was a good book & I hope you enjoy it as well 😊
omg what a funny coincidence! The post literally just above you was a book by the same author where Simon was a peripheral character 🙂 I didn’t know there was a movie adaptation, I will have to watch the trailer x
Was it Leah on the Offbeat? Leah is one of Simon’s best friends so it would make since if he was in it too.
The movie follows the same plot as the book so it looks interesting 😊
I’ve been wanting to see Love, Simon, but now I may just have to read the book before watching it! Great review!
Thank you! I always think it’s better to read the book before seeing the movie 😊
