July 2018 Favorites header

These months seem to be going by faster and faster, and before we know it will be fall and my birthday! With the end of another month it is time to share my monthly favorites!

Queer Eye: At the end of Nailed It! was a bonus episode where the members of the Fab 5 competed against each other. I decided to check out their show Queer Eye, and I loved it! In Queer Eye each member of the Fab 5 has their own speciality: Tan (fashion), Jonathan (grooming), Antoni (food and wine), Bobby (design), and Karamo (culture). Together they transform people on the inside and out so they can be the best version of themselves. Queer Eye is a feel-good show that promotes great messages, and I would recommend it to everyone.

The Handmaid’s Tale by Margaret Atwood: On a darker note, I recently reviewed The Handmaid’s Tale, and it was intriguing, but also disturbing. The Handmaid’s Tale is about a woman named Offred who is forced into being a handmaid to have children with the high-ranking men. The look inside a male-dominated religious-fueled society is eye-opening and I hope modern society will never become like Gilead.

Solo by Clean Bandit feat Demi Lovato: I love Clean Bandit’s songs, and this one is no exception. The lyrics are catchy even though they do have a double-meaning. I also love Demi Lovato’s voice, and it is sad she relapsed. Hopefully she will make a full recovery, but it is a reminder to everyone that even if someone is sober, it is always possible to relapse and mental illnesses and addiction need to be taken seriously.

Nerdwax: I regularly wear glasses, but I have had the problem of them sliding down my nose in the heat, so I did some Googling and found Nerdwax. Nerdwax is made with beeswax, and you apply it to the bridge or nose pads of your glasses to keep them from sliding, and it really works! After I apply the wax to my glasses I do not have to worry about them sliding down every 5 seconds. The wax does need to be reapplied if you wear your glasses all day or it is especially hot, but the Nerdwax container is the size of a Chapstick so it is small enough to bring with you. If there is any wax residue leftover at the end of the day, it easily wipes off and your glasses are good as new. I would definitely recommend Nerdwax if you wear glasses and have a problem with them sliding!

The Nerdwax and Soap & Glory Sugar Crush Body Wash

Soap & Glory Sugar Crush Body Wash: Since it is the summer I have been taking showers more frequently than usual. When I shave I use the Soap & Glory The Righteous Butter Creamy Body Wash as my body wash and for the other times I use the Sugar Crush one. The Sugar Crush Body Wash has a wonderful citrus scent, and it cleans my skin well. The body wash also leaves my skin feeling soft, and it is perfect for the summer. I would recommend this body wash if you like citrusy scented washes!

  1. ! Nerdwax ! Must go and get some asap! Why hasn’t my optician informed me of this clearly brilliant product!? My glasses keep sliding down my nose regardless of season and it’s a main reason why I don’t wear glasses all that often. (The other would be mascara smudges on the lenses..) Thanks for the tip πŸ™‚
