Empties #7

It has been several months since my last empties posts, and since then I have used a ton of skin care products. Like with my previous empties posts, I am going to review each product, rate it, and decide if I would repurchase it or not.

The various masks I usedLeaders 7 Wonders Mediterranean Olive Brightening Mask: I received this sheet mask in a beauty bag from Ulta. This mask was soaked in product and I found it a bit long for my face, but it stayed in place. I wore this mask for 25 minutes, and afterwards I massaged the excess serum in. My skin felt soft and moisturized and also looked brighter and the redness I had was reduced. I would definitely repurchase this mask because it had great results for a sheet mask.

Miqura Premium Bubble Mask: I received this mask in my February 2018 GoodieBox. This mask reminded me of a soapy sheet mask. This mask had a clean scent and a decent fit, but it was a little long. I wore this mask for 8 minutes, and I could feel the bubbles forming which was weird. However, as the bubbles were forming, my cheeks started feeling irritated. After I took off this mask, my cheeks were red, but my face did feel soft and moisturized. This mask does include fragrance, so I would not recommend it for sensitive skin, and I would not repurchase it since it irritated my cheeks.

Matas Rensende Maske: I bought this mask on sale from Matas, and it is for cleansing the skin. This mask was a regular sheet mask soaked in serum, and it had a fruity clean scent. This mask had a good fit, and I wore it for 30 minutes. After I removed this mask, my face felt soft and moisturized, but I did not notice much of a cleaning effect. I would not repurchase this mask because it was not as effective as I would like.

Matas Fugtgivende Maske: Like with the Rensende Maske, I bought this mask on sale from Matas, and it is for moisturizing the skin. This mask had a nice scent and a good fit, and I wore it for 30 minutes. Afterwards, my face felt soft, clean, and moisturized. Out of the two Matas sheet masks I tried, I would repurchase this one, but I would to try their other sheet masks as well.

Pure Mind Pore Refining Charcoal Essence Mask: I bought this sheet mask from Normal to help with impurities. This sheet mask had a good fit, and I wore it for 20 minutes. After I removed this mask, my face felt soft and moisturized, but I did not notice any other difference in the appearance of my skin including the next morning. I would not repurchase this mask because it was ineffective in removing impurities.

DERMAdoctor Kakadu C Intensive Vitamin C Peel Pad: I received this sample from Ulta, and it is a pad soaked in serum. I applied this pad to my clean and dry face, and it did feel rough on my skin. I kept the serum on for 3 minutes before I washed it off, and it absorbed quickly. My face felt soft and moisturized, and my skin was not irritated. These pads would be great for when I need an extra boost of moisture, but they are way too expensive to repurchase especially since it is recommended to use 1 pad a day.

Douglas Aqua Focus Moisturizing Snow Mask: I received this mask as Christmas gift, but unfortunately my daughter opened it so there was not that much left. This mask had a perfume like scent, which I did not like, but I applied a thick layer to my face. I wore this mask for 15 minutes, and some of it absorbed, but my face felt greasy and I removed the excess with water. My face was soft and moisturized though. I would not repurchase this mask because I did not like how greasy it made my face feel.

Beauty Formulas Hydrate & Nourish Fingernail Mask: I bought this mask from Normal since I have never tried a fingernail mask before. The packet contained 10 individual masks for the fingers, but they were difficult to put on since they kept falling off. The masks also had a very strong scent that I did not like. Since the masks kept falling off every time I tried putting one on my other hand, I had to get my boyfriend to help me. Once I got all of the masks on, I kept them on for 30 minutes. However, I could not do much during this time because if I barely moved my fingers, the masks would slide off. After the 30 minutes, my nails did feel moisturized, but I would not repurchase this mask because it so inconvenient to use and I would prefer to use a hand mask instead.

Nordic Tread Hydrogel Eye Patch: I received 4 of these eye treatments from Lise, and I used one a week. Unlike most eye masks, these masks are not soaked in product and instead they had a sticky backing. These masks were easy to apply, and they stayed put while it wore them for 30 minutes. My under eye area felt tighter, moisturized, and my dark circles were less noticeable. I would repurchase these masks since they are effective and at a decent price, but I have other eye masks I need to use first.

The various skin care products I triedFormula 10.0.6 Best Face Forward Daily Foaming Cleanser: I used this cleanser in the evening after removing my makeup. This cleanser had a nice scent, and it made my skin feel clean and less oily. Even though this cleanser claims to be a foaming cleanser, it does not really foam up. I would repurchase this cleanser though since it had great results.

Lush Tea Tree Water Toner: I have previously reviewed the Lush Tea Tree Water Toner, and I would use it in the morning and evening after washing my face. I sprayed the toner directly onto my face, and it dried quickly. The toner made my face soft and moisturized while reducing the oiliness and the redness of my skin. I would repurchase this toner because it is great for my oily skin, but right now I am trying out a toner from Naobay.

Ole Henriksen Counter Balance Oil Control Hydrator: I received this moisturizer in my August 2017 GoodieBox, and I briefly reviewed it in my Is High-End Skin Care Worth It? post. This moisturizer was easy to apply, and it absorbed quickly. This moisturizer did make my face feel moisturized, but I did not notice a difference in oiliness. I would not repurchase this moisturizer because I prefer the Lush Enzymion Moisturizer instead for my oily skin.

$34 – $55 at Ole Henriksen

Douglas Cleansing Make-Up Remover Wipes: I received these wipes as a Christmas gift. These wipes were convenient to use, and one wipe removed all of my makeup including my eye makeup. Even though these were effective makeup remover wipes, I would not repurchase them since I like using micellar water instead to remove my makeup.

€ 2,99 / $3.50 for 25 wipes at Douglas

Rate: 9/10

NYX On the Spot Makeup Brush Wipe: I received this sample from NYX. This wipe was easy to use, and it removed the makeup from my brush. NYX does not sell these wipes, so it would be impossible to repurchase them, but it was a good quick way to clean my brushes in between washing them. I would look into buying the spray though since it is sold at Matas.

Rate: 8/10

Frank Body Peppermint Coffee Scrub: This scrub had a strong coffee scent, and it felt weird applying it to my skin since it was mainly ground coffee. However, this scrub was exfoliating without being too rough, and it easily rinsed off. This scrub was messy to use, but I did not mind since I used it in the shower. This scrub left my skin exfoliated, soft, and moisturized, and I would repurchase it.

$18.95 at Frank Body

Rate: 9/10

The Body Shop Polynesian Island Tiaré Shower Gel: This shower gel had a nice exotic floral scent, and it lathered up well in the shower. This shower gel also rinsed off easily and left my skin feeling clean. I would repurchase this shower gel, but I would like to try some other scents. I also could only find the body lotion on The Body Shop’s website.

Rate: 9/10

Crabtree & Evelyn Caribbean Island Wild Flowers Hand Therapy: I received this hand cream in the Marzia’s Summer Faves Box. This cream had a nice scent, and it left my hands feeling soft and moisturized without feeling greasy. The small size was also convenient to bring with me in a bag, and there are larger sizes available. I would repurchase this hand cream in the smaller size so I can carry it around with me.

$9 – $32 at Crabtree & Evelyn

Rate: 10/10

Douglas Intensive Hand Cream: I received this hand cream as a Christmas gift. This cream had too strong of a scent for me, but it absorbed very quickly. This cream also left my hands soft and moisturized. This was a fine hand cream, but I would not repurchase it because of the scent and I also could not find it on Douglas’ website.

Rate: 6/10

Creightons Raspberry and Pomegranate Revive Hand Cream: I bought this hand cream from Normal after I ran out of the Creightons Mango & Papaya Balance Hand Cream. This cream had a nice fruity scent, and it absorbed quickly. This cream also did not make my hands feel greasy and instead it left them soft and moisturized. I would repurchase this hand cream because it is good hand cream especially for the price.

£1.49 / $2 at Creightons

Smashbox Iconic Photo Finish Foundation Primer: I have tried this primer before, and it absorbed quickly and gave my face a smooth texture. My makeup applied easily and lasted all day with this primer, but it expensive. I would not repurchase this primer because it is so expensive, and I am not that big of a fan of silicone based primers.

$36 at Smashbox

  1. Someone else who loves sheet masks! I haven’t actually tried any of these, but I have a bunch of different ones coming up in my empties next week. Body Shop shower gels are great, though I tend to prefer the fruity ones like mango and pink grapefruit.

    1. I’ll be looking forward to reading your empties post! I love fruity scents too so I’ll have to check out those shower gels the next time I go to the Body Shop!

  2. I’ve heard so many people rave about charcoal masks, but then most reviews seem to say the same as yours- moisturising but not actually removing much! I wonder who is doing charcoal’s PR at the moment, hmmmm? I do want to try doing some hand and foot masks this summer, see if it helps with the dry skin!

    1. It’s weird b/c charcoal is supposed to help w/ removing impurities, but then it really doesn’t 😞
For your feet I recommend the Tony Moly Changing U Magic Foot Peeling Shoes. They remove all of the dead skin & leave your feet soft! It does take around 2 weeks for all of the dead skin to come off after using the foot mask, but I think it’s worth it! 😊
I haven’t found a hand mask that had long-lasting results, so I’ve been sticking to using a hand lotion for now
